Too much salt will kill you.
ANY salt will kill you
Not enough salt will kill you.

Just wait, in a couple years another "definitive" study will prove the opposite of whatever the latest fad study is showing.

Firstly the study was based on heart attack survivors and not the general population.

I guess I just wait for the study that includes folks that didn't have a heart attack....

My runner wife see's this on Fox news last night and looked at me with a WTF expression, I just had to laugh.  There was no mention that it was based on heart attack survivors either, go figure.

So does that mean I am screwed since I had a heart attack 5 years ago? The Ironman is really going to kill me now

Well if they revealed this was a study done on people who have suffered previous cardiac trauma, they might not be able to make their outlandish claim, and thus not be able to further the Fat Acceptance Movement...

If running more than 4 mile a day is bad for you I'll probably live to be 120.

It is bad for you.  That's so much time wasted where you could be riding your bike.

After 34 years of running more than 4 miles a day I am much more likely to die from skin cancer or getting hit by a car than having a cardiovascular event. We all gotta go, might as well feel your best until you do.

I have averaged running over 5 miles a day for the last eight years. I am surprised that I am still alive.

Guess I don't have to worry about how/whether I can ever retire then. Heading out to run.

The number 1 cause of death in the world today is not cancer, car accidents, obesity, or even heart disease.....the number 1 cause of death in the world today is wait for it....BIRTH!  You can't argue with statistics...

I usually run 4 miles a day....well...not every day. There's a day off and a weight training day or two.
Lately though, I've been running more than 4.

If I didn't enjoy running as much as I found I do....
I would be dead.

Of a heart attack, clogged arteries, heart disease, hypertension, cholesterol levels through the roof.

Yes, I lost most of my 100 lbs doing things other than running. But mixing in running....and 'participating in triathlons' has definitely made me stay excited about living, eating, and exercising better.

actually the article advocates not running more than 30 miles per week. The 4 miles per day figure is just the average daily amount of running based on 30 miles per week (30 divided by 7 = just a bit over 4 miles per day).

This assumes that the person runs every single day, which many people do not. (Isn't 5 days per week more likely?). It goes on to say that "most days" 45 minutes or so of running is enough, and certainly not more than an hour of running on any particular day.

So for example: one day per week (when most people do their long run) assuming an 8 minute mile, then they can run almost 8 miles for their long run in an hour. The other 4 days per week they could run for 45 minutes (about 5.5 miles) each day = 22 miles. This would be 30 miles in total.

So the person would be running 8 miles for their 1 long run and 5 miles for their 4 shorter weekly runs.

This is at least a little better than seeing running as limited to only 4 miles a day, yes??

Yes. This. Without varied exercise every single day, I would've killed myself due to poor mental health by now. I've tried for years to get a good, working medication regiment that helps me, but nope. Nothing. But I'm active for at least 45 minutes twice a day, I'm in a good place.

I can skip the first workout every now and then(not on consecutive days), but having the 2nd to look forward to at the end of the day is often the only thing that keeps me going without despair and frustration.
