What is your expected swim time? I guessed at mine when I registered, and when I had time I checked it. I was off by quite a bit. Originally guessed it to be around 8:30. It is a lot closer to 6:00. I called to have it changed, but my start time of 54:00 makes me think it didn't get changed.

Good idea. anybody familiar with the area of the race site??  I've never been there before, but I'm planning to check it out tonight.

I estimated 5:30 or so for my swim, but i made the mistake of assuming it was a 300m swim, not a 300yd swim.  so I hope to get out of the water in 4:45, give or take a bit.

don't worry about it too much joe, there will be lots of different swimming abilities mixed in all together.  i would expect it to be a perfect race for a rookie.  you'll love it!!

I am definatley pumped. Not too woried about the swim. Maybe I'll lose 20-30 seconds worst case, but it won't ruin my race time or fun.

~B, Let us know about the facility and a possible place to meet and say Hi. We are staying at the Comfort Inn that is real close to the Spirit Center. I hope it's not crappy.

By the way, I'm taking the ole' kick-stand off of the mountain bike tonight. That should more than make up for any time lost in the swim. Ha!

I estimated my time around 7:00 min or so, and I leave around 47:XX My husband estimated his around 5:00 and is around 17:XX. From what I have read, the proper ettiquite is to pass when you go under the ropes. Is that correct?

I am not familiar with the area, I may check out the Comfort Inn as well. Any other suggestions?

Well, here's the skinny:  Bring your small chainrings!!  There are some fun decents on this course, but some very challenging climbs as well. (the worst perpetrator comes towards the end of the race, at the end of Guthrie Rd.) I would definitely describe the course as being more than "rolling."  Right out of the TA, there is some tough climbing to be done.  Not much of a "welcome to the race course, have a nice day" kind of start.  But the scenery sure is nice.  Seems like a lot of it will be very shady.  Smooth for the most part, but there are some spots on Terra Ln where you have to be careful.

If we want to pick a spot to meet up at some point, I think the playground will work. it's right next to the pool.

'Fraid I can't help with the lodging.  I'm not familiar with the area at all.

I've always wanted to do this race, but my life always gets in the way.

A tip...spiny spin spin those legs out for last couple miles. It will help you get going on that run after a hilly course. A BTer gave me that advice before my first race and it saved me.

 GOOD LUCK!

Ok, now I really am not looking forward to this Sunday. But thanks for the tip! I thought it would be pretty flat now I know! I am sure it will be doable though. Coming from Southeast Missouri, I can't leave my house without some challenging hills! So did you ride the course or just drive it? Just wondering how long it took you to ride it if you did.

I'll look for the playground, but my guess is you guys will be done and gone by the time I finish! At least my husband HAS to wait for me lol!

Now Carree, the course description isn't supposed to SCARE you. It's supposed to PREPARE you.  Now you know it'll be challening, just like your SE MO rides.  this way, you can get mentally pumped up to attack some hills.

and don't worry, I'll be waiting at the end for you. i always stick around for post-race activities.

there's some details about my ride last night in my training log. you can get an idea of my experience from that. just click on my "logs" tab.

looking forward to meeting you all there!

Glad you tipped me to this thread, getsome! My swim time is 13 min or so. I don't remember my swim estimate. I will look for folks at the playground too. getsome is easy to spot, he's always in RED! (with the orange shoes, that's how I recognized him first)

I'm going Saturday AM to pick up packet and drive the course if not ride it. Looking forward to a nice 3-brick workout, ha ha....

I'd like to be able to say hi and congratulate everyone after the race. I have an early start, but will stick around til the end to cheer everyone on.

I am planning to wear a red nike swimming suit. I have a bright pink bike and helmet. I know getsome has his BT Tattos, what will everyone else be wearing, maybe i'll see some of you pre race.

Hey I will be wearing a southeast gymanstics t-shirt before/after and a black/lilac swim suit then a bright yellow with black and grey swirls cycling jersey for the bike/run. My bike is blue and white and I have a white helmet! Pretty generic I know I proably just described over half the people there!

See you then!

Hi! There are a few of us doing LSL too... are you hitting the practice swim this weekend?  There's another thread in here about it. You can definitely meet some of us there! Are you doing the long or short course?

I am doing the short course. I have to miss the practice swim and ride. Are some BTs going to meet prior to the race like last weekend? I also talked one of my friends into the event, between the two of us we have 1 race completed . Should be fun.
