Total Time = 1h 25m 6s
Overall Rank = 25/961
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/142
Pre-race routine:

Got up around 530, had a quick breakfast, left two unhappy kids that had woken up to early and biked down to nokomis. So great to have a race right in our backyard!
Event warmup:

Nothing.
Swim
  • 10m 14s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim has always been my weakest event. Some things don't change. I started strong but definitely tapered for the last 100 or 200. My goggles are tinted which is usually nice but it was super overcast and my wave all wore orange swim caps which made finding the orange swim bouys difficult!
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Wet suit got a little snagged on timing chip but overall ok
Bike
  • 46m 57s
  • 15.5 miles
  • 19.81 mile/hr
Comments:

This felt great. I rocked it and was smiling the whole time! Ate a gu around mile 12 with the hope it would help me on the run
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

This couldn't have been any faster.
Run
  • 24m 59s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

My fast bike caught up to me here. The legs felt like big heavy bricks at the beginning. Tried to relax my shoulders and push it. I had battled during the bike with one woman from my AG. We kept passing each other, getting passed and then passing again. We started near each other on the run but she took off about a mile in. Just didn't have it in me. She had three kids. This race is so inspirational. So many women out there, moms, grand moms, etc that are cariving out time in their busy schedules to stay fit and strong.i

Event comments:

I love this race. I hope to do it forever. Seriously! I hope to one day race it and have grace race it too!

I started training for triathlons in my early 20's but never entered one. Twenty years later found me still a newbie, with many extra pounds, much more humility and a healthy dose of reality.

Triathlon serves up many humbling moments. The most humbling of days came not during a race day but by email. I had been invited to participate in the Rambling Rose Women’s Only Triathlon. Wow.
