*crickets* ... only 111 registered so far

im surprised it's not a little busier.  figured a lot of people would be using it as a tune up for Augusta.

I wanted to do it, but now it seems impossible with my work schedule. I guess I'll decide later in the week.

Yea, I spent some time in N. Augusta/ Aiken area. Not exactly a destination race. Probably less then 200 people between the Olympic and Sprint. The venue isn't bad and the race has been well run in the past. Nearest decent hotels are a bit of a drive.

it's too bad that there isn't more people at this race, it's one of the best races in the scts. we stayed in downtown augusta and our drive was 15 minutes the morning of the race

bike course was a bit short, website said 40k but garmin clocked 23.5 miles

Where did you stay downtown? I stayed at the Marriot downtown with my wife a couple of years ago. Unfortunately they were hosting a biker group that weekend and between the drunken brawls, vandalism and late night parties we felt lucky to get out of there alive. I know it is different during IM 70.3 Augusta and the Masters but other times might be sketchy. We may have just hit the wrong weekend

This was my first year doing this race. Wish I'd brought my road bike! I also really liked having all the AGers in one wave since it meant I had lots of open water =) It wasn't a bad race, but I was a little disappointed in the post-race fare - not much food!

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
