Good morning BT!

4:30am:  65 mins on the KK--high cadence stuff to get the legs moving again. Took two full days off after my 35 mile run Friday night. Legs felt great today.

5:30am:  30 mins strength circuit training

Day off for me...taking older daughter in to Salt Lake today to get her braces off!  Seems like we just went in to get them put on!  I'm sure we'll manage to fit in a little shopping!

Have a great day and kick butt!

Yesterday did my 3rd Yoga class. I think it is really going to help my back etc on the bike, I'm excited!
This morning, strength work followed by some easy, short running intervals to continue testing my nearly 2 month old muscle pull. Next up, 1200 yrds or more of swimming in pool. This afternoon, bike ride of about 30 miles with a few hills and hard sustained efforts thrown in.

I'm back in the countryside in Texas for the moment, so I had a nice sweaty 30 min run on the dirt roads through the pasture, past all the prickly pear cacti, lizards, and a 5 foot long king snake. The best part is that I was joined by my little friend molly pop who, shown below, is studying for her masters in criminal psychology

Yesterday I did a 2K swim for the 1st time in forever.  This morning getting out of bed my lower back & hamstrings were very tight.  Had to get in a run today actually got up "early" and dog and I were out the door at 7:45.  I took him for 3.8mi and dropped him off at home and went back out to do some more.  I missed last weeks 7.5 so I did that.  Nice weather today, my back loosened up and had to be conscious of the right hammy a few times but it was a good run.  Jumped in the pool to cool off, last couple of days we've had rain and clouds so the pool has normalized to more reasonable 81F.  I ended up doing an easy 500 yards.

Have a great day everyone!

Legs were a little wobbly after my 20 mile long run in the heat yesterday bit I stopped off at the beach on the way to work this morning and ran from Powerhouse Park up to Seaside Reef and back at recovery pace and then jumped in the ocean and did a quick trip out to the buoy. (6 Mile Run, 1000 Meter Swim)

At lunch I hit the trail and ran up Penasquitos Canyon from the office to the waterfall (it was dry) and back. (10 Mile Trail Run)

Felt good to be running on soft surfaces today. Sort of like a massage for my calves and hamstrings :D

Hey all!

Late post, busy day!

Started raining HARD in the wee hours of the morning and still pouring when I was supposed to get up for my run. Slept in.

Still raining and MASSIVE flooding in Phoenix - some major freeways under water, power outages, etc etc...it ended up being the wettest day in AZ history - CRAZY!

Wondering how I was going to get my kids to school with all the road closures but got an email/call from the school that school was CANCELLED!

Never thought I would EVER say that we wouldn't have school due to rain - CRAZY ! but my kids were beyond thrilled and spent the next 2 hours playing outside in the flooded park by our house!

It was nice to relax and let the kids just chill!

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
