a few of us are in for the sprint. You'll be able to spot us as we will be wearing zero clothing...

Other than a few minor things, I actually think I liked this race location better than the 5150 (and the KS 70.3). Does anyone else feel that way?

(My only course complaint really is that I thought the run started and ended on that real narrow sidewalk and I nearly collided with a couple people...and that tree that I had to duck under at the finish).

It was a fun race. The bike and run were definately long. The low hanging tree was strange. Racing in a banana hammock is still strange. Fun way to end the season though. I liked it, minus the extra 20 minutes it takes to get there.

Do you know how long the sprint course was?My wife did the short course and was disappointed in her time.

I felt like the run was a bit long (Oly course) but my GPS was not working so I have no idea really. Plus, I trained right through this race so I didn't have any legs, so I didn't think too much of it.

I did get a kick out of the parade of speedos heading back on the bike while I was heading out.

I know my garmin said 3.6 for the run. I think the bike was about a mile long.

How was the race atmosphere compared to the Topeka Tinman?

I actually thought it was alot better, but I also wonder if part of that was my severely lowered expectations (I literally had none: most were free entries and Silverback has created a certain lack-of-expectation in my mind). They had an announcer who was OK and I thought that helped (let's face it, the Ultramax guy is loud and obnoxious and even when he's just hollering "you've got 5 minutes to get out of transition, mooove!!"....it creates a certain feel).

The Baker cross country team was there doing the water stops, so they were well covered. Overall, I thought it was ok, but again...it was a free entry for me (and probably most everyone there). They ran out of size Large shirts (which is a pet peeve of mine) but doesn't make too much difference...I have plenty of shirts.

I heard some complaints about lack of communication about the bike course, but they sent out at least 2 emails and also facebook posts...so I'm not sure what else they really could have done apart from them getting out and paving the road themselves.

If I had paid $70-100 for that race, I'd probably really be griping...but I thought it was fine overall.

Did you notice the soundtrack? Nothing will get you pumped up to race like some rockin' Nora Jones and Jack Johnson...

But at least they had music.

Ha ha. Yes. Yes I did. I actually didn't comment on that...because I feel like I always complain about them...but my wife even commented on that. "what are they trying to accomplish with this?"

It's pretty easy to put together a soundtrack than can get the masses fired up. I think Spotify could even take care that for them...

I could have sworn Air Supply was playing as I crossed the finish line.

Maybe so. Obviously they were giving the fast guys the party atmosphere. : )

What do you guys think is the future of this race? In 2013, it seemed to launch on the free entries from the KC Tri. This year, I'm guessing it was buoyed by many free entries from the 5150 and Tinman races. I can only assume that they have been trying to develop it so they can sell entry eventually.
