Bike
Comments: Somehow I thought this race sounded fun so despite of not having biked in 2 weeks (except for the MTB clinic) and not having biked on my roadbike in like 5 months I decided to sign up. I am still in my resting month so I knew this wouldn't be a good performance but the plan is to do fun things this off-season and this was (what I thought) part of it. Its a 1.9km course downtown Reykjavik with four 90 degrees tight turns and you do 15 laps. Well once the first one hits 15 laps everyone gets to finish the lap their on and then you stop. Male and female started at the same time so I knew I would not bike the whole 15 laps. I forgot my Garmin and my HR monitor at home so I was biking completely by feel. Some people actually warned me about this race beforehand as last year it was chaotic and a few crashes as there were not enough volunteers guarding the streets and driveouts but they promised it would be better this year and it was. Races like this with group starts are way way out of my comfort zone. I am a time-trialer, a single rider in competition and although I trust my own skills I don't trust the others. So I starting in the back and letting the groups go which ended up of me biking alone for the entire race which was not really the purpose of it but thats the way it was. I overtook about 10 people in the first 5 laps and then had a steady positioned. Lapped a few girls and ended up in 6th place after 13 laps. Post race
