Veteran 379  |  Subject: Another biker riling a driverwe all have our stories of drivers being jerks, or worse, but this whole story is a bit sketchy. the biker gives the driver the finger AND "lightly slaps" the driver when he rides past him? did he really think the driver wasn't going to react? I am also confused how the cyclist got road rash if his arms were in the car and his feet were in the pedals? and how was a 64 year old man able to have the reflexes to grab the cyclist who was riding by, "lightly slapped" the drivers arm, and politely reminded him of the 3 foot rule? those are some mean reflexes. seems the cyclist needs to brush up on the law as well ... that's the law that says when you are on a bike and the other guy is in a car, take the smart route - don't antagonize him by touching, much less slapping him while you pleasantly *shout* at him about the law, especially after already giving the guy the bird. that law is called survival of the biggest http://www.startribune.com/local/south/277682861.html |

The driver started the altercation by buzzing the cyclists (unless they issue the bird for no apparent reason). He then stops his car to wait for the cyclists to either have a verbal or physical confrontation. He could have kept driving but no, after endangering lives by buzzing cyclists, now he wants to fight about being told he is number 1. Yes, the slap was stupid, not a good idea to touch anyone these days. A fist fight doesn't settle anything anymore, just ends up with charges for both parties. Sounds like the driver stopped his car. The cyclists rolled up and stopped, driver gets lippy and points a finger or goes to touch one of the cyclists. Cyclist slaps his arm away, driver grabs him and hits the gas. Stupid on both parts but imagine if the driver had not been a a$$hole in the first place and just waited for a decent place to pass and gone about his day without putting someone else's life at risk. Nah... then we wouldn't know how tough he is. |
