OK, so, I'm trying to enliven the NC forums a bit...I know it's only October and I know that some of you haven't even finished your last race of the season yet, but for those of you that have started to plan for 2015, let's hear it!

What are you racing in 2015?!

I think I'm going to do the SetupEvents triathlon series and take a year off Ironman, unless I can get into IMFL. I want to requal for Boston (2016) and may try to do that at the All American marathon (Ft. Bragg) in March.

I'm still trying to figure that out. It depends on if I can find a place to swim over the winter in Winston Salem... If I can then I'm looking at Raleigh 70.3 and B2B Half... probably with the Bridge to Pier Oak Island Sprint in between because I should try to defend my AG Title

If I don't find a place to swim, then I'm going to transition to Bike races and that kinda opens the door to a whole slew of things

I'm thinking of one of the spring races at White Lake. But, the main goal is Take the Lake at Lake Waccamaw. Very local race. 4 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 12 mile kayak, and a 15 mile run.

Honestly, whether I do mostly tri's or stick to trail running largely depends on my financial situation. As if now, it's looking like running will be more doable.

BUT, if I get my way, I'm looking at:

Two twenty two duathlon (deferred because race was cancelled in 2014)
Mt. Mitchell Challenge (another deferred entry)
Smoky Mountain Relay
Something at the beach (Turtle Crawl again, maybe)
Lake Logan Oly
Iron Mountain Trail Race (50???)
B2B (probably half, maybe full)

Yeah ....guess I haven't really fleshed out a plan yet

Sounds like a fun race!

Yeah, at this point, I'm guessing we're prob 1% sure we're going to do any of the races listed.

I'm all over the board at this point. The only certainty is probably the Raleigh half. Even that I sometimes think about skipping but I know I would get to race weekend and regret it because I live so close and would miss all the excitement.

Beyond that, there are many ideas floating around...
- Focus on one of the NC tri series and stay away from longer races
- Finally check the full IM off the bucket list
- Try to qualify for Boston, probably at the Tobacco Road Marathon
- Enter the Escape from Alcatraz lottery again
- Race Nationals in Milwaukee... I hear it's a lot of fun
- Finally do the Lake Moomaw triathlon in Virginia... yes, it really exists

I age up next year so that will change things up a bit.

My racing plan is in flux, but if I could pick, it would be the following:

March: Azalea Tri
April: Tar Heel 10 Miler
June: Ultimate Runner, Winston-Salem
August: Lake Logan half
September: Wilmington Y sprint
October: B2B half

I've never done B2B, so that's one I want to check off the list, but I'm really hoping that Lake Logan next year can be a true half, not four miles short on the bike and half a mile short on the run (unless my Garmin and everyone else's were lying).

Anyone heard if Lake Logan will even have a half distance next year?

Not sure- sorta like smoom in being all over the place. Some thoughts:
1) Marathon in March, then Raleigh 70.3 and then short course tris
2) Marathon in March and then short course tris
3) Short course tris with Raleigh 70.3 thrown in as "A" race
4) Short course tris with B2B half thrown in as "A" race. Riding home yesterday in the nice fall weather gave me a hunkerin' to do B2B again!
5) Something entirely different

Let's do Tobacco Rd!
I can't race Raleigh as I'll be on military duty during that time, though.

Eyeing a marathon sometime earlyish 2015. Either Tobacco Rd, Quintiles in Wilmington or Rock n Roll in Raleigh. Would also like to do IM Agusta 70.3 later in the season, and short course stuff in between. Did the Raleigh 70.3 for the first time last year. Missed it in its inaugural year. Enjoyed it, just want to see a different venue. Raleigh 70.3 weekend will come around and I, to, will probably regret not doing it.

qrkid, if you don't train at all you can run it with me! But if you need a potty break, you're on your own!

I'm a Road racer/MTB racer/CX racer and occasional TT racer. I like the idea of the long TT portions of the Triathlons, but not ready to start swimming and running yet. Are there any long TT races or team efforts where I could just do the bike portion?

I'm going to try and do as many of the NCTS races as I can that are Oly distance and hopefully get enough good results so I qualify for the All Marine Triathlon Team in 2016. Might try my first 70.3 next year as well.

Lake Logan will have a half again ....this year he's doing the half on Saturday and the Olympic and sprint on Sunday, GREAT call for traffic (and we Oly people won't have to stand around an extra hour.

As for the shorter bike, I know the RD and from what he said the course could be short and safe, or accurate but considerably more dangerous. At least it's clearly advertised as such but yes, lots of folks got a little bummed about that.

B2B is a standing order on my race schedule ....love this event, done both distances.

Just like that you both registered? Oh man, now I have to seriously consider doing it. I'll get a couple of weeks past this weekend and see how things feel. Although as louiskie points out, we would only see d00d at the start and finish. He could bring pizza down to the finish for us Louis!

Scott, all the cool kids are doing it...you should, too!

I wanted a fast and not super crowded marathon to qual for Boston again. That's why I chose Tobacco Road vs. All American. In addition to the BQ, I really want to start 2015 off with an early marathon b/c I feel that the base I develop training for it carries me through the entire year.

Let us know what you decide! It'd be fun to have a group go out there and all set PRs!
