Pre-race routine:

Ate fruit and cereal for breakfast, drove out to the sight, stopped to get my wife some coffee.

Some riding and stretching.

A 28 mile race in Vegas heat.

I guess it was a race in the sense that it was a timed event with other riders. I opted to ride in the back with my wife, provide moral support, and let her draft as much as she wanted/needed.

We crossed the line side by side, tied for last place.

Post race

Warm down:

Walking, stretching, comparing notes on future running and cycling events, saying our good-byes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and previously mentioned non-issues.

Event comments:

These races are open to anyone in the Law Enforcement / Fire Fighting community and are good for someone wanting to dabble in bike racing. The group as a whole had a laid back approach and very supportive of the beginning/ less experienced racers.
