Comments:

I wasn't sure how this would go since I had a new bout of Plantar Fasciitis flare up in my right foot about 3 weeks before the race! I had an abrupt and drastic taper. I felt pretty good until about mile 17 when my foot started throbbing, my body was yelling at me, and I was just tired. That lasted until about mile 21 when I think I got a second wind, embraced the pain and the suck, and pushed on as hard as I could.
What would you do differently?:

Not get PF!
Post race
Warm down:

Hobbled to find my husband and put ice on my foot. I didn't even make him carry me to the car as I had threatened!

Event comments:

This was my first stand alone marathon. I wasn't sure what to expect. I had drastically changed my goals when the PF set in. I am very happy to have finished, but was a little disappointed with my time. Now I am going to have to do it again to see how I can do when healthy!

Good job! PF is no fun...the sock and Superfeet insoles did the trick for me.  My first marathon was in April...no PF but I had a bursa sack behind my knee that was inflamed...I would have loved to come in at your time...5:07...let's just say I have lot's of room for improvement.

I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.

I can't say it enough, the feeling of treading water for that final minute, helicopters over head, Mike Riley's Iron-voice over the P.A. - just awesome. I cannot believe I'm here!
