Had my goggles kicked off my face. Sucked.
Transition 1
  • 09m 41s

Having suit pullers is a big plus!
What would you do differently?:

Practice open water swimming in wetsuit. First time wearing wetsuit and it rubbed in all the wrong places.

Faster than I thought I could go. Killed myself on the bike and paid for it on the run. Oh why don't I listen to everyone?
Transition 2

Handed bike off to bike person. Awesome.
What would you do differently?:

Wish I would've grabbed my bottle. I like running with my bottle.

Worst part of the day. Gastrointestinal issues throughout. Almost made me quit, the stomach pains were so bad. I couldn't drink or eat anymore.
Post race
Warm down:

Relaxed and drank my one free beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not eating right leading up to the race.

My issue is that I am currently deployed and training outside is proving difficult, especially on the bike. I have found a safe 10km running loop but I am struggling with the bike training.

I strained by lower back last week. I know that I need to rest in order for it to heal fully, but I am concerned that I am going to lose needed fitness for the race. Will this affect my performance?

With stroke improvements I find that when I try and swim long I have lost any speed gains that I had because my stroke count just creeps up and up. I also feel like I'm running out of air.

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.
