Pre-race routine:

stood around, asking people do we really ahve to swim, talk to cute girls.
Event warmup:

standing
Swim
  • 33m 51s
  • 820 yards
  • 04m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

I beat 1 person in my age group on the swim and I cam really close to another. I really did well for me. did not even back stroke at all. way faster than I though
What would you do differently?:

Well I think more traiing would have helped. done better navigating would have helped also. seeing a couple of other black caps really gave me a boast even though I only passed them because they stopped a few times to rest.
Transition 1
  • 07m 57s
Comments:

Well I had problems getting my helmet on. Problem with the strap. I have not tried a moving bike jump on so I can with my shoes one. clean feet off nicely. Also wore a cycling jersay and that was hard to get on. Body was too wet and I need to dry off.
What would you do differently?:

I probably should get a tri top. the jersay I think saved me time on the bike but the lost in transistionwas not good either. I felt I moved better than my first T1 I did but I had a slower time.
Bike
  • 50m 52s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 14.66 mile/hr
Comments:

I cycled alot faster than I ever had before. passed a few people on the bike and I was chasing another one for awhile. one lady I passed jumped back on the course almost knocking me over. then she turn sharply in front of me.
What would you do differently?:

new bike is what I need. new bike and more training.
Transition 2
  • 03m 27s
Comments:

guy put his bike right on my spot. in fact his bike was suppose to be a little farther over but he had a drying wet suit and put the bike in my bike's place. it was hard to get around him.
What would you do differently?:

not much. getting the right shoes and practcing getting on and off the bike would help. Also used Transition as kinda of a rest spot. was able to see where my spot was thanks to a canadian flag.
Run
  • 38m 48s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Well I have some tendiatsis in my knee so I walked alot of it. I did run more than I thought I would. when the finish line came up I could not help but start running for it. I love finishing with nothing left
What would you do differently?:

I wish I did not kick it in. my knee was killing me at the end. It was the ending of a great race and I do not think I cost myself too much with it. Maybe 2 extra days of problems.
Post race
Warm down:

iced my knee. packed up my stuff. found the other bters.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my knee caused me problems. lack of form in swimming and a good road/tri bike.

Event comments:

I really enjoyed it. It was fun. I liked it alot. I think I may do it next year but I hope to do the Oly instead.

Hey Todd, great job on making your goal and crushing your last time.  You really did a good job.  Thanks for the "encouragement" out on the bike.  See you next time!
