nursing is so amazingly flexible, and if you get sick of the hands-on bit, there's so many other things you can do with a nursing degree and some experience.  I work in the other side of healthcare (a medicaid MCO), and we have so many nurses on staff - doing care coordination, pre-authorizations, and my department - auditing.

I'd go get a nursing degree except I am wicked squeamish.  I'm taking some coding classes, and half of the examples make me cringe.

good luck!!

Med/Surg is the hardest, but some say it is the essential backbone you will need before you specialize. Good luck!

Sometime when we get that 3AM call and take the patient to the ER, the hot nurse makes your sleepless night a bit more tolerable.

Ok...keep working out so I can meet the 'hot' requirement to work the overnight ER shift. Got it!

I think I might like working the overnight shift, fewer days of actual work. I might try it, we'll see whats out there when I'm done.  Thanks for all the advice everyone! (except Jim)

It's been my experience that most rewarding specialty, both professionaly and personally, is the naughty nurse.

BUt I won't bore you with my stories.

*ahem*

I must be really odd, but the naughty nurse/french maid fantasies do very little for me.

Fantasies?

And anyway, I think you mean "freedom maid."
