After riding my road bike for about 2 hrs or more, there is numbness in the crown jewels. Is this typical or should I get a new seat/ fitted properly.

Are you fairly new to riding? If so sometimes it just takes an adjustment period. if not you could try a different saddle. I had the same issue and switched to a split saddle from Cobb and it's all good now.

If it's truly numbness then that is definitely a problem. The first step is certainly to be well fit to your bike, then if the problem persists it's time to look at a different saddle.

(Warning of bias, see my sponsors*) Cobb Saddles have a wide, diverse range of choices and most people can find comfort on one of them. If you decide to go that route I highly suggest calling and discussing your situation with one of the guys (or gals) at Cobb, they can often give some helpful recommendations. They also have one of the best replacement policies in the business if you are unhappy.

Fit, Saddle, shorts, etc can all contribute.

I had this issue too when I first got my old tri-bike, even with a fitting.  I ended up switching the saddle to an ISM race, today I ride the ISM Prologue on my new bike.

Are you riding on the road or on a trainer? Getting a proper fit and a 'taint-friendly' saddle has certainly helped me. I can ride on the road for hours without issue. But, for longer trainer rides, I still need to mix up my position from time to time to keep from getting sore.

Definitely an issue... most saddle issues are actually not that though... it's a bike fit issue. Not saying that you can ride a saddle that simply doesn't work for you, but at least make sure that you start from a correct fit

Nose down so your jewels don't stay down and your wife won't frown.

Dropping mine few centimeters on my Adamo Podium helped me.

Not my sponsor but I do recommend Cobb saddles. It is also important to check level of saddle. I have a small level and place on top of a book on my saddle.

Cobb saddles are awesome and great customer service.

I raise my saddle last year for a better leg fit and found it changed something and the numbness started. I had to drop it back down. Even a small amount of change can cause discomfort.

Another great example of why fit must be taken care of first, before starting to change out the saddle. You can spend $100's on changing saddles, but unless you have a decent fit to start with, you're wasting money (and time)...

Tyler,

Yes it's all about the fit first. Primary cause is the seat is too high. After that then switch saddles your leg extension at the bottom of the strong should be about 140-155 angle. If still struggling, we are here to chat at Cobb Cycling.
