  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

wet suit saved my butt. Still need lots of work on technique
Transition 1
  • 03m 26s
Comments:

wetsuit caught on gps and heels. lost time dealing with those issues.
What would you do differently?:

take gps off before taking left arm out of suit
Bike
  • 1h 31m 21s
  • 35 kms
  • 22.99 km/hr
Comments:

very hard and hilly course. Bike needs to be properly tuned to not skip out of lowest gear. Skipped right out of my straps a few times.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more time in the saddle and a few hill sessions to drastically improve this segment.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Not sure I can improve much on this time, i chugged down some powerade before leaving and it probably saved my run
Run
  • 50m 6s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 01s  min/km
Comments:

tough run. very hilly Thighs were screaming the second half of the run. Started taking 2 cups of water and seemed to help
What would you do differently?:

train on more hills to be better prepared for next time
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training most likely played a big part on the bike and a little on the run. A few more hill workouts and bricks would make a huge difference.

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
