Subject: How do you track your training?
I have OCD and have to have everything I do written down in notebooks with pencil only. Typing stuff into blogs/training software, etc is not something I enjoy. I need to handwrite everything and then if I have time I wll transfer the stuff that needs calculating into a small nutrition/training tracker I have on my phone. The software is easy enough to use and I get what I want out of it, but I do love looking at all the fun features various sites have for breaking down your nutrition and training into the all the little interesting bits and pieces of information we all love to look at.

Other than this site the only other site I've ever used is Training Peaks. And as far a tracking software, right now all I have is a timer watch. I don't have a heart rate monitor or bike computer yet, but I plan to get those some day soon (I hope).

So I was wondering, what kind of tracking sites/software do you all use? What were your favorite sites/tracking software? Which ones were just a frustrating mess of numbers? Anyone out there use pencil & paper like I still do? :-)

I used to use a spreadsheet to track everything, switched to Turtle Sport for a bit, and now I use Strava and JeFit.

I also used to use RunKeeper, and I had a lot of historical data there so I use https://tapiriik.com/to sync Strava and Runkeeper.

My wife, who does her strength training with me, refuses to use JeFit and writes everything down by hand.

The training log at BT, of course! Other than that, Excel.

Here.

Very loosely on Strava (like, if I actually use my GPS)

In a new journal I got - haven't logged using pen & paper in forever. Love it!

Used paper and pencil for years and years (I still write training plans on it--with any premade plan I end up having to switch so many things around due to work schedule, traiming conditions, pool hours, etc. that I might as well just rewrite it.). But switched to BT logs about three years ago. You can leep all the info in one place and get nice monthly and yearly totals, graphs amd reports quickly without buying an electronic device or a bunch of software related to it. One thing I wish it had was a calculation of some kind of total training metric (TSS?) besides volume. Other that that I'm happy with it.

If truly OCD, then can't most of the Garmins download directly to some kind of software and then you can make the reports and graphs? Really not a tech person (I have a bike computer, a HRM that doesn't work, and a Garmin I never use, and have never downloaded anything from them) but pretty sure that's a available as it's constantly discussed on some threads.

Training peaks since October. Garmin Connect before that. I don't like Garmin Connect so much. I don't like the dashboard screen but the indidual workout screens ar good. I'm a big fan of training peaks.

Here and just the short detail on a big in your face wall calendar in my training room. I use different colours for SBR so I can easily see if I have skipped or swapped my run for riding too often (which is what normally happens).

Mostly here and Strava, although I also have them on Garmin Connect and Training Peaks.  I've found TP the most useful for TSS and the like, while here and Strava are good quick glance trackers (and more fun!).

With Garmin Express, I just plug in and now it uploads to all of them automatically (and now seems to actually work, which is an upgrade).  Have to say I'm liking the setup after the initial bumpiness...

Ditto for me, plus Trainer Road for the trainer rides, which also do a good job with the TSS piece.

I'm going to let you in on how to get faster by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing, but you won't have to raise your heart rate, put out 300 watts, or really even break a sweat.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

Provided one was proficient in setting up the different functions of the Lap Track, I think that a short-course triathlete would benefit most from this, since it only records splits up to 50 laps.

One way to improve your speed is to do track work that totals the time and distance goal. The idea is to slowly condition your body to be comfortable at your goal pace.
