15 | Subject: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum here, but I wanted to make everyone aware that the Clermont ITU Pan American Cup is going on tomorrow in Florida. There is an accompanying Elite development race in which the top 3 athletes from each gender will qualify for their elite licenses. I'll be racing in the pro field and I made a pre-race video you might enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eohNT9NQ5SI Post-race I'll also try to share an on-bike video here with narration of tactics like I did for my last race: http://youtu.be/tK8A4rMBVkc I'm hoping to give everyone a bit of insight into ITU and professional racing in general this year. I think the more everyone understands professionals and pro racing, the more the sport can grow. There's a lot that goes on in a bike pack and ITU is definitely more than "swim fast, take a nap on the bike, run fast". Let me know any questions you may have! -Eric |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Yeah......I know 15-20 kids in each EDR race down there this weekend....should be some great racing....smoking fast kids. Jr. is at a Sectional swim championship this weekend in Oklahoma. (commitment to swim club kept him out of this weekend's triathlon racing) Looking forward to some warm Florida weather next week. Good luck Eric! It's good to see the season come back around. Edited by Left Brain 2015-03-06 5:19 PM |

Alex Hinton is my pick for this one. I think Hinton will be one to watch for sure, it will really depend on the separation in the water and the early stages of the bike. The swim this year is an actual swim with only one or two dolphin dives.. almost certainly non-wetsuit and choppy.. If the chasers are motivated and the pack doesn't get so big that it slows it down, Hinton vs Vanort will be interesting. If they've had to chase the whole bike leg though, they may be less dangerous on the run. |

I dig it. It's actually on loan from my squad mate, Joe Maloy and it's been to Europe 3-4 times so it's super hammered. My only gripe would be the durability, but with the amount of travel we put on these things, I'm not sure if you can expect more than a couple seasons out of anything.. The sci-con is ridiculously easy to use though and it almost feels like a joke how fast you can pack it. I always finish in 5 minutes and sit there staring at it wondering if I've forgotten something.. I love that it carries two sets of wheels (I recommend wheel bags for the second set). It comes with a derailleur protector but I like to pull mine off just to be extra careful. Showing up to a race with a snapped hanger is the worst. It sounds like you'll be in Sarasota? See you there! |

15 | Subject: RE: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Originally posted by simpsonbo Damn... Don't worry too much, Hinton has another shot this weekend in Sarasota. My Triathlon Squad mate Jason Pedersen will be there driving chase packs super hard, so Hinton might make it back to the front.. Hunter Kemper is also going to be in attendance though, so a lot will depend on his swim and what group he's working in. He can really affect the outcome of the bike at this level. And if younger guys are in his pack, a multiple time Olympian telling you to work can be very persuasive |

Veteran 2297 Great White North | Subject: RE: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Russ Pennock likely stayed away due to indoor track/school commitments. He is another to watch. Stefan Daniel is also from here and is training with some of the same coaches. He told me he is going to CamTri in Sarasota. He is also racing in ParaTri as well. Standout kid. 17 years old and 2nd in his Para Cat at worlds and racing at last years YOG qualifier. |

Veteran 2297 Great White North | Subject: RE: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Looks like Griffin had a decent meet. 1.46 4x200 4.50 500, 10.14 1000 and 16.59 1650. We had our final indoor meet this past weekend in Edmonton. Remember the giant yellow building across from the parkade? PB in both 60m and 400m 18th and 15th respectively. .05 in the 60 and 11 seconds in the 400. Long Jump was 10th place, he really listened and improved his final jump by 25cm. He has great endurance but needs to work on his form and leg turnover. The big plus is the team atmosphere, our youth coach was a successful HS head coach in California before moving home to Calgary. She really makes a serious effort to instill a strong team bond between the kids. I think our program is going to explode in the coming years. Our one assistant coach has a distance and xc background as well. They might do a final 1000 time trial to see where they are vs the start of the season. Got 3 kids of steel races lined up so far. I figure racing is the best training and its more fun for him. |

He'll be coming out of the water a little bit behind me, but always rides like an animal and could bring some packs together. I can have him doing commentary with me and giving that perspective of the chasers.. His stories from chase packs can be pretty ridiculous, especially at the PanAm level. This weekend's race should be pretty interesting with Kemper in attendance and a pretty pool-like swim. The rowing lake in Sarasota has marker buoys and I swear is engineered to allow no waves or wind disturbance. |

I have heard it's on the roadway this year. What do you know? ETA - nevermind, I got it. Looks like it is still half on the cart path. Edited by Left Brain 2015-03-10 9:03 AM |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Clermont Pan American Cup (VIDEO) Off to Sarasota ITU North American Jr. Championships tomorrow. If this bag travels as slick as the bike goes into it then it's the greatest bike travel box/bag ever. The only thing you take off are the wheels, and it carries two sets easily. The bike is cradled in a frame with skewers on the front fork and rear drops. You don't take off the pedals, handlebars, seat......nothing. I took the rear deraillier off in an abundance of caution since it's Di2 and protrudes out more than a mechanical. As you look at it, the seat is to the left and the handlebars to the rght.

He wasn't too happy with the 1000 and added time there but the rest are PR's for him. He's worked his arse off over the last few years to make the front pack.......he may finally be there. He may not get an official time for awhile. His club trains all summer in a LC pool but he never gets to do a meet because of triathlon and triathlon camps. They start LC meets in 3 weeks but he's got track season so he just misses out on those LCM official times for now. |
