If you have done or are doing Sufferfest vids, how far apart do you space them? Once a week, one every two weeks or what? Now this presumes it doesn't mess up your training schedule. I finished my early season race and because of other commitments I don't have another race for over four months.

What's been your experience?

Thanks in advance.

I have only done one (Fight club) inconsistently, so perhaps I am not the best for advice. I found it very useful. I did it once a week for about a month, with another trainer ride, and an outside ride. I found it quite good.

I am interested in the other replies as well, because I want to step it up to at least one, maybe two a week during my off season

2-4 days apart, depending on the schedule and which ones I'm doing.

I ride 3x a week. 2 are interval days and 1 is a longer Zone 2 ride. I don't always use sufferfest vids for the intervals, but it's always at least 1 of those 2 sessions. For me, Monday and Thursday are intervals and Saturday is Zone 2 day.

I do 2 or max 3 sufferfest videos weekly. Usualy on Monday and Wednesday. And if I can't take the bike out during the weekend (snow/ice reason) I sometime do a third sufferfest video on Saturday

Currently I do a group ride on Tuesdays that's harder than any sufferfest workout I've ever done.  If that ride gets called due to weather then I ride Local Hero, since it's the only workout that gets close to the agony I go through.  Thursdays I'll do one that pushes more towards VO2 or anaerobic (Revolver, AVDP, Nine Hammers, etc.).  I'll throw one in on the weekend if the weather is bad.

You could do 2 a week and meet your quality for your other workouts as a triathlete.  I wouldn't recommend more than 2 unless you're doing a bike focus.  You can maybe get away with 3 if you're doing a big week followed by a recovery week.

I'm riding 4 times a week and stick to one 'hard' bike, 2 aerobic sessions, and a long ride which will have 'some' intensity, but nothing soul crushing. Whether it's a sufferfest, over/unders, etc. . . my body gets a bit too worn down if I try to fit in two hard bikes while also being able to do a 'hard' run in the same week. As you can see from the posts so far, there are many answers and they vary greatly.

I guess a takeaway is that you can ride with intensity more frequently that might think so long as your body can recover and it fits in with your overall training plan.

For winter training, its 3x/week., usually Tu, Th, Sat. Saturday is usually a longer session with one of the endurance length videos or a couple others back to back. Week day is usually just one.

With nicer weather, Saturday is an outside ride, and the weekday is still a fun 'Fest time. I love the Sufferfest.

Try Revolver twice in a week and it will make you want to put a revolver to your legs.
I'd say twice a week. Depending on which ones you do. All of them have a target purpose. But generally I have found them good for your interval type days.

Were you actually doing Revolver twice a week?

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

No matter what technique you use, running still remains a sport that requires “pain and suffering.” Technique-only training will not make you a fast runner if you don’t practice to be one.

Many plateaus are actually resistance to accept that what used to work doesn’t carry the same bang anymore. Keep pushing and let yourself sweat. Don’t try to be comfortable, embrace the suffering.

Mental toughness is skill. You need to learn how to suffer. You practice perseverance everyday when you are out training in the bad weather, when you ride or run further than you have ever gone.

My dog is an intelligent runner. She does a big stretch before she does anything. She starts out slowly and gradually builds up speed until we are running very fast.
