Event warmup:

Walked and stretched....
Brought Sam with me. Looked for Will but he wasn't there yet!
Run
  • 36m 25s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

I was a bit intimidated by the group. Since I had the dog, I just went to the back of the pack for the line up. As soon as we got started, boom - there I was at the back. The whole group stayed together and off they went! As we were going downhill, I kept hearing this weird sound - like brakes on a bike. Lo and behold, I'm the last runner and the guy on the bike is following me. He was like 3 feet away and kept hitting the brakes as he was coasting. Oh well. I ran my quickest 1st mile at 10:31. After that, there were no markings for miles 2 & 3. Sam and I both got drinks at the water stations. Got toward the end and there were Will & Jocelyn cheering for me. Dexter also made it!
What would you do differently?:

run farther, faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Kept walking after the finish line and got to the tent area where the race results were already posted. ouch. I saw them update the list, but I never even made it up on the board. ouch again.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

too much extra weight.

Event comments:

The photo is coming down the home stretch. Will is cheering me on!

Course: Way too many turns - only a few corners were manned, which was not good at 10am on a Saturday morning - traffic was rough. Would have preferred to have the uphills more at the beginning.....

Great picture of you, Sam and Will.   I feel the same way at road races...the crowd moves away and I'm always at the back....LOL       Good job!
