Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 120/204
Age Group = 30-34F
Age Group Rank = 2/15
Pre-race routine:

Ate a blueberry muffin and coffee en route to race. felt frazzled getting there in time.
Event warmup:

Jogged about .33 miles in total. Legs were so not fresh since I didn't rest up for this race.
Run
  • 16m 32s
  • 1.55 miles
  • 10m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Took this super easy. Started in the back.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I still working on the running and this is the best I can do today.
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

had to run through grass and over a curb. First time that we weren't in a parking lot. Since I was in the last wave I got to see the "good" dudes transition. Now I don't feel so bad about how clumsy I feel.
What would you do differently?:

I still need to practice this transition. I think there's easy time on the ground here.
Bike
  • 47m 42s
  • 14 miles
  • 17.61 mile/hr
Comments:

Legs were a little fatigued from run and no rest pre race. Just tried to do my thing and save a little for the run. You can see I went a little slower than last time. On the last loop coming to finish it felt like I was the last 1 on the bike. the run loop was super busy. Oly folks had 4 loops and sprint had 2.
What would you do differently?:

rest up more before the next race. Since this race got knocked into a du I decided it wouldn't count and pushed my training before the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

I didn't jump of a moving bike or run with it. Someone before me had a serious wipe out coming off the bike. I was tired after the ride so I rested for the minute it took to get my bike in.
What would you do differently?:

nothing for now.
Run
  • 30m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

By the time I got running the sun was in full force. There was no shade on course. On the back part of the loop you run by the lake and it smelled horrible. I'm actually glad we didn't swim in the sewage :) I kept dumping ice down my shirt and sticking it in my bra and encouraging others kept me going. I can't stress to you how fried I felt. I tried to keep my head from bobbling and my arms moving it was hard and painful. I did not walk!
What would you do differently?:

I'm proud of the execution of the run. I just wish I had some more natural born talents here..
Post race
Warm down:

walked around in the shade. I gave this thing everything I had and I was woozy and kinda sick by the end.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

they cancelled the swim, just imagine if there wasn't a bunch of sewage in the lake...

Event comments:

They can't do anything about the sewer pipe breaking. I thought they did a good job with plan B. The 2 water stations were fantastic. I liked the loops because I always had folks around.

At mile ten I heard a noise like I had gotten paper in my spokes or something. I looked but saw nothing but a few seconds later my rear tire blows out.

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.
