Overcast
Total Time = 54m 25s
Overall Rank = 96/494
Age Group = 30-35
Age Group Rank = 18/50
Pre-race routine:

Two different transition areas- so i set up both (10 miles apart)and got my markings, ate a banana, some sips of gatorade and a gu 20 minutes before the race
Event warmup:

did some stretching for about 10 minutes, and then swam about 100 yards.
Swim
  • 08m 57s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

I struggled getting around people the last half of the swim- it was wierd they just seemed to stop and I had to get around them
What would you do differently?:

I just have to get more ows experience and work on my breathing and form- i am actually pretty happy with the end result- but this is one event I could have shaved seconds off with
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

The transition are had no bike racks and the bikes were double parked- i had some trouble getting the shoes on and even finding my bike was hard because it was dark when we laid them on the ground
What would you do differently?:

Just plan better- most races will have a better transition area- also think about not wearing socks- they take some time to wrestle on
Bike
  • 25m 19s
  • 9 miles
  • 21.33 mile/hr
Comments:

Really fast- mostly passed people- I just screwed up and dismounted early and lost a few seconds, it looked like a dismount area so i ran with the bike as some of the people I had woked so hard to pass got those seconds back- I did start fading toward the end of the ride- but I did give 100%
What would you do differently?:

just be aware of the correct dismount location
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

This was ok- really just had to find the rack- but the shoe swithc went well
What would you do differently?:

nothing really- I only saw the location at 5 am in the dark so maybe just burn a better mental image in of where i need to be
Run
  • 16m 29s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not a fast runner- i get passed going downhill of all things, but i did have a good average time for my personal average
What would you do differently?:

just continue to get lighter and faster
Post race
Warm down:

ate a pbj sandwich, had some water and a cold beer (at 8:30) cheered on some more finishers and went to have breakfast and then on to get my t 1 stuff

What limited your ability to perform faster:

myself, and the transition setup. I am on the way and can only get better- already a huge improvement in my placement.

Event comments:

NOT TO SAY ITS TOO EASY- IF YOU GIVE 100% ITS NEVER EASY- THIS IS JUST THE SHORTEST COURSE I MAY DO
