Overall Rank = 156/408
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 23/55
Pre-race routine:

Set up and stretched out, hammies were a little tight.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 14m 24s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

signed up late so I got a later wave than I would have liked, but ncie and easy for first 150-200 yards. Got into a good rythm and pushe dthrough the res of the race felt good. I was not tired or breathing too heavy as I exited the water.
Transition 1
  • 04m
Comments:

Much better transition than the racehere in June. Suit came of easy died up quick and got shoes and helmet on fast.
What would you do differently?:

Fuel up and hydrate during the ride coming out of the gate rather than do it during T1.
Bike
  • 58m 30s
  • 16 miles
  • 16.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride, was a bit wet in spots, but overall I was pleased. I improved on this bike time from the race in June. I am still learning how to ride a road bike, so I hope my times will go down even more.
What would you do differently?:

Attack the course a bit more and not take it easy as much. Also, train more on the bike, this is my weakest event and ther eis room for improvement here.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 time was factored into the bike time, I would guess 3-4 minutes at most. First time using bike shoes, so this was a bit of an unkown but it went smoothly. Refueled and hydrated before i left transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Refuel on my way out, because they have the water station on teh way out of the gate. Could shave som more time off this.
Run
  • 24m 9s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out slow and focused on my breathing and let momentum take over. Nice and easy run, again bettered my time from June, I felt like I was running slow, but it was faster than I had done previously.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing other than refuel and rehydrate out of the gate rather than in Transition area.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it off and a bit of stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Holding back maybe a little too much in the water. My own apprehension on the bike on damp roads.

Event comments:

This was only my second tri and they have both been at Harriman, run by the same group. It is organized and well run but the militant tone of the directions and rules was something many people, including myself found a bit annoying. However if you can ignore that tone, which I did, it is a great race. It is a challenging bike ride, which is my weakest event, so I enjoy that part of it. The race is great and I am looking forward to doing the set again next year.
