I'm definitely in for Hammerfest, it's the race I spectated before deciding to start racing myself. And they have decent shirts.

I did a race that weekend last year. The air was cool but the water was downright toasty. It was actually perfect race weather.

Oh, that's kind of sucky - unless you're local, you're SOL. Maybe give the race directors an email/call and ask if you can fax a registration in? That's really early to close out online registration - perhaps they were expecting to be sold out by now.

ETA: I have to drive to Westbrook to drop off my bike for servicing on Saturday anyway. Is there any way I could sign up for you?

Last year they had a line a mile long for race day registration, I think maybe they are trying to avoid that again. Although I wonder why they didn't tell you this beforehand, maybe the race is just nearing capacity and they don't want all those people to come out for nothing.
