This is my 2nd year of running sprints. So yeah, I'm still new.

I'm not a beginner, in fact I haven't raced a tri in a few years. I just race bikes now. And sometimes run. But if you have any questions or want to ride or run together sometime, I'd be happy to help.

Thanks very much. Motivation was pretty low this week because of football. However, I am about to get back going. Was thinking about doing the tri at kerrville but not sure. Where do you guys do your open water swim training?

I used to do open water swims up at boerne lake. Some people swim up in the Comal river in new braunfels too. But boerne was where just about everybody used to go. I assume they still do. We used to show up at 8 am on Saturdays when trisition area was still around.

I'm moving to San Antonio in a couple weeks for work. Where is the best cycling and running in/around San Antonio? This is a big influence of where I choose to live: I'd rather not drive to a destination to take a ride or run.

That depends. But generally, the Northwest side (Helotes area) and the north side (Stone Oak area) have the best riding in the Hill Country, and a lot of weekend group rides start in those two areas.

As far as running goes, you can pretty much run on the pavement anywhere. If you are referring to trail running, then the Northwest side is where you want to be. Lots of great trails out that way.

The hill country is pretty much where most of the races happen, so its good to train in that area.

I did the race at Kerrville last year and am doing it again this Saturday. It was really great weather with a little rain keeping the temps down.
