Comments:

well, it wasn't a swim, it was a run. which psyched me out. understandable to cancel the swim based on the looks of the ocean, SCARY. but disappointed cause swimming is my strength and i dreaded starting with a run, and kept telling myself so with every step. bad idea. felt slow and my warm up consisted of worring and putting my shoes on and thats about it.
What would you do differently?:

knock off the negative self talk!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

already in sneakers, just needed to get on the bike. easy to find the bike when you are nearly the last off the run!
What would you do differently?:

not watch mary toss her cookies, she waved me on but it took a couple of miles to make sure i wouldn't toss mine.
Bike
  • 46m 45s
  • 9.5 miles
  • 12.19 mile/hr
Comments:

even though the race was well marked, i stressed myself out about which way to go next. passed some people, not many. totally did not drink enough water, hardly any. will have to try out some GU's cause eating a power bar on a bike did not work for me...gave it up to some lucky squirrel.
What would you do differently?:

have better idea of course before race and use hubby's camel back water thing instead of a traditional bottle in the cage.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

legs felt a little wobbly but overall it was good.
Run
  • 40m 1s
  • 3 miles
  • 13m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

i thin ki did prety good considering my best run ever is 39:37 and i did this in 40:01. but i now know i could push myself harder, its the last thing for heaven's sake!
What would you do differently?:

push harder
Post race
Warm down:

hugging the kids and loaded up the car. got some coffee and a bagel at D&D

Event comments:

i loved this and feel totally hooked on it. i don't care what the official standing on the web site says, my 3 year old thinks i won! she was playing with her cousin most of the time and missed every other person who crossed the line but she is proud of me and keeps asking when she can be in a race just like her mommy, so i did win. i tried it and i finished.
