This afternoon I'm doing a long OWS in this lake...

And this overlook of the St. Croix River is along one of our long run routes.....

Other than that, a lot of rural country roads with lots of rollers, steep hills, and tons of cows... right outside our front door.............

I remember going up there before high school graduation and tubing down the Apple river. The last thing we did before we headed back for the graduation ceremony was jump off the cliffs in the St. Croix. Thats a beautiful area up there.

They stopped letting (or at least they made it illegal - can't stop them) people do the cliff jumping a couple of years ago after a young kid killed himself. It is a beautiful place.

I live a stone's throw from Mill Creek Metroparks in N.E. Ohio.  Winters haven't been too bad as far as snow goes.  We'll get dumped on for a day or few and it will usually melt withing the same time frame.  Summers are when I get this beautiful scenery:

Only good news here I'm afraid!

Melbourne has a great cycling mecca called Beach Rd (name says enough) and if you head south enough on it you can put in 200km+ round trip on a variety of flats, hills and beach side riding. Plus there are other more hilly routes in land. (Beach Rd is reputed to be one of the most used cycle training routes in the world averaging about 7,000 cyclist per weekend on the one road!)

Running: Lots along the bayside roads and tracks.

Swimming. Heaps of facilities, but the jewell in the crown is the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center which has TWO 50m pools (10 lanes each) One indoor,  one outdoor plus an indoor 25m pool. But the hours are the best - 5:30am - 10pm most nights of the week!

Indoor Pools

Diving Pool in the foreground, 50m Indoor Lap Pool behind it, 25m Lap Pool through the glass wall on the left.

Outdoor Lap Pool

50m Outdoor Pool at Sunrise.....

Basically we're not short of choice! Sorry - that's probably made things worse ....
