Comments:

this was not good. I am happy with my time considering how awful my start was. I got my chip pulled off and had to stop to re-adjust.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my chip is under the leg of my wetsuit and get in a lot more open water swims.

Comments:

my chip came off in T1, so no official timing here. I got the chip back on for exit of T2 so I took the difference and the data from my bike computer and made some guesses to the best of my ability.

Comments:

I felt great here. I did not feel like I was going at a 7:32 pace.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.

Event comments:

outside of the swim a good race for me. this was my best bike to date. I averaged over 20 mph and then ran 7:32's for the 10k portion, so training paid off for sure. I HAVE to concentrate more on the swim from now on. That is for sure going to hold me back from placing higher in these events.

I feel your swim pain.  Our races look very similar.  Good job on the bike and run!!!

That sucks about your chip, but overall it sounds like a fabulous race! Even though you weren't happy with your swim, you were still in the top half of your age group which isn't bad given it was your first massively crowded OWS, the first with a wetsuit and the discipline you acknowledge to be your most in need of improvement.

Congrats on having a strong Olympic debut! Just think, given how young you are, you have lots of years to reach your endurance peak and kick some serious at these longer distances!

Like life, tri's throw us a few curves from time to time.  If it was easy, everyone would do it!

You're time rocked!  Nice job, stud.

You are a "chip" off the old block.

Your run rock'd.  What a great end to the race.  This distance is a good distance for you.  Next year lets meet in Indy where there are only 500 people (but they are really fast Wink).
