Pre-race routine:

Got there pretty early (9 am race), picked up my packet. racked my bike, hit the BthRm and then tried to stay warm.
Event warmup:

Got my shit together!
Run
  • 17m 7s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Ehhh, it was okay. Just tried to stay warm.
What would you do differently?:

Stop eating donuts before and after the race?
Transition 1
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

I took my time. No rush.
What would you do differently?:

Practice?? Who knows. I haven't done a transition in so long it was deja vu all over again!
Bike
  • 46m 18s
  • 20 kms
  • 25.92 km/hr
Comments:

Pretty pathetic but expected since I haven't ridden my bike outside once. I hate hills and change gears plus I lost a few minutes when my race number fell off.
What would you do differently?:

Everything.
Transition 2
  • 02m 50s
Comments:

I was pretty dizzy off the bike (eat something beside sugar before the race) and I was in a daze so I am surprised I was off under 3 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Eat well.
Run
  • 18m 45s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Lots of run/walk. Surprised that I was under 10 min/mile. I had some good visuals so maybe that made me not pathetic.
What would you do differently?:

See above 1st run and ride!
Post race
Warm down:

Took my time. Walked around. Get my stuff and I was off. Nothing special.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Geez, it is a little pathetic but I am 48 years old and I am not a good runner or cyclist so I am just happy I didn't die out there!

Event comments:

Decent.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

After you have established the Ironman goal, the most important factor outside of the training is which race to choose? What is your best sort of course, hilly, rolling, flat?

Bricks refer to training on two disciplines during the same workout.
