Pre-race routine:

The day before, we had a wedding. I knew I shouldn't have worn heels with that dress, but I did anyways. I woke up at 4:30 the morning of the race. Ate 2 waffles with Mrs. Butterworths and a banana. I drank a cup of coffee and sipped water with Hammer Fizz in it all the way to the race.
Event warmup:

None really. Just walked around until I found my corral.

What would you do differently?:

Don't wear heels the day before. Don't do a half ironman 5 weeks before your marathon. No alcohol 14 days before hand.
Post race
Warm down:

I hurt bad. Limped to the car. We stopped for Mexican, but I could hardly eat.

Event comments:

This is an awesome race. If anyone is ever thinking about coming to the Twin Cities to do this race, don't think twice. Just do it. Tons of volunteers. And the people of the Cities turn out amazingly. I never had a minute where I didn't have someone cheering for me.

I did my 20 mile at 11:08 minute miles. I was really hoping to break 11's on this couse. I went out at around 11:15's and really felt like I was pushing it from the very beginning. At the 13.1 mile mark I was at 2:20 (my fastest half ever) but had to keep that pace to get in under 5 hours. I fell apart at mile 15. Everything hurt!!
Course: Beautiful! The cities really turn out. Mulitiple live bands. Block parties blaring great music. Fans handing out beers and champagne mimosas to runners. Just AWESOME!
