I'm new to it so I'm looking for riding buddies and options in the metro area. Been riding a local nature center with single track / grassy roads until the snow hit. Now I'm anxious to head to the trails that are set up for the fatties. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing you on the trail.

I just got a fat bike, but I am WAY too chicken to ride anywhere other than across the occasional lawn. But it sure rocks when having to go over little piles of snow at intersections

I mountain bike but haven't taken the plunge into the fat bikes yet. The majority of the mountain bike trails are packed/groomed for fatbike riding, and there are some races as well.
Check out morcmtb.org they are an organization that builds and maintains off-road trails. All the trails are listed there as well as lots of other group rides and races, plus general winter biking info (what to wear, lights, tires etc...)

Also looks like the DNR is not going to be clearing some paths in the winter such as the Gateway trail (which is probably closer to your neck of the woods ) and parts of the Luce line, which would make for some easy fat biking.

enjoy!

Some friends and I hit some single track trails at Elm Creek last weekend. Having no mountain bike experience, this move to single track / slippery conditions is a challenge. It's very fun and is a welcome change from the long miles on the road and it sure beats sitting on a trainer.

Check out Theodore Worth park just west of downtown. Then there is also Lebanon Hlls down by apple valley but those guys down there are weird. They get upset if people ride the trains when they are not in ideal (100% dry) conditions. I have heard of people getting tickets from the "trail police" down there.....but there are weird people everywhere i guess.

This is part three of a five part series on how to train for an Iron distance race. In this article I would like to try to offer up some information about how to get through the bike unscathed.
