Subject: 1.1.16 Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit and I'm Baaaaa-aaack!

Goood morning BT!  Happy New Year!  I pretty much dropped off social media for the last 8 days or so--sadly dropped off any form of working out as well.  It felt good to be lazy while traveling but I can't go one more day without moving...so back at it--and with a vengeance!

Hopping on the bike  trainer for 60 minutes or so and will follow up with some plyos and core.  Later hope to get out to hike with the doggies.

So, what are everyone's goals for 2016?  I am still determined to break that darn 2:00 for the half marathon.  It is time to bump up my intensity in training--I really feel like I just didn't push hard enough.  I'm capable of it, I know it.  So...Monday my plan is to train for another 1/2 marathon in March.  After that, I'll start looking at some spring/summer tris!!!

Welcome back Kim! Sometimes we need a little down time - gives us back the fire we have to train!

I did the trainer today as well. Let's see if I can sum it up - as it was a good workout. Basically holding specific wattage levels over different cadences, and making appropriate gear changes to get to goal intensity. I'm trying to work more on maintaining a faster cadence than I'm currently comfortable at.

Warm up 10 min -(5 min easy, 5 min build with some spin ups)
5x5 min at 70-80% FTP - cadence change each 5 min (95+, 90, 80's, 70's, 60's) - 1 min recovery in-between each
4x4 min at 80-90% FTP -cadence change (95+, 90's, 80's, 70's ) - 1 min recovery in-between
3x3 min 90-100%FTP - cadence (90's, 80's, 70's) 2 min recovery inbetween
2x2 min FTP - cadence( 90's, 80's)
3x1 min FTP + 20-30 watts -cadence in 90's) - 1 min recovery inbetween

spin legs and cool down

Worked out to be around 1:30 approx. Good workout. I saw a basic timing of this workout somewhere, so just tweaked to what I wanted to accomplish today. Benefits of being a spin instructor is I can take just about any idea and make a workout out of it :-)!

Goals for me - get into PT and hit the rehab hard so I can start running again. For now just working on my bike and swim.

Swam the New Years day "hunerd hunerds", 100x100 on 100. My best 100x100 ever, didn't feel fatigued until 9,000 yards this time. Hopefully that's a sign of a good swim year at least. Aging up to 50-54 so looking forward to not having to race those super fast 45-46 year olds around here.

My legs (and head) hurt just looking at that trainer workout! Rang in the New Year with a 90-minute long run along the river here with some fartlek pickups. Cold (low to mid 30's) but sunny for a change in our neck of the woods. Supposed to do some core work too but have been avoiding it by messing around on BT--need to get started.

2mile cross country fun run -a bottle of specially brewed commemorative beer for all finishers. My first run in mud and mess, had to hose my shoes down when I got home. Brilliant

As I entered the transition area, I got body marked. It was, for me, pretty intense. It made it so real...I was doing this! A triathlon!
