It's right in the doorway between the bedroom and living room, with a good view at t.he TV for catching up on some TV (I nevver watch TV except for during trainer rides). While not in use, it's just tucked away a bit in the corner, already on its sweat protection mat, and then I just drag it out a bit and plug the cables needed in, place a big fan in front of me, turn everything on and I'm ready to go! Very practical, not much time lost for setup.

Just curious about what kind of trainer set up everyone has. I live in a 6 bedroom house and somehow my wife has managed to keep me in the garage. The garage is perfectly fine in the summer but geeez in the winter when its 30 or below, it sucks! I have to start out my rides with a pullover until I start sweating and then it comes off. And you HAVE to have a fan blowing so that makes it that much colder. All of the rooms in my house are carpeted and so my wife claims that when I set up in those rooms it starts smelling like sweat, even though I always put a towel on the ground under me. So just an interesting topic to me, where do you set up?

I have the trainer setup in the garage as well. It can get a little chilly in the winter & if it gets too cold, when temps drop below 20 or so, I will move into the kitchen for a ride. The nice thing about the garage is that the bike can be left on the trainer. No one cares how much noise I make out there either. I don't use a fan when riding the trainer but on the other hand the max time I spend on a trainer session is 90'. Most sessions are 60' or less.

I had a similar problem regarding carpeting so I built some platforms for my trainer and also an ellipitical we have. It was pretty easy (and cheap). I used 2x4s for the frame and made sure there were supports under the contact points for each for stability. 3/4" plywood on top of that and wrapped in yoga pads from the dollar store at $5/peice. All in, it was about $40 per platform and they keep the equipment stable and the carpet dry.

I've been tweaking the height of my front tire so I haven't built a platform for that yet (hence the books) but I certainly wasn't paying the $50 or whatever they wanted for the plastic one that comes with the trainer.

Here are some photos. The pain cave is a work in progress, but getting there.

Sh..... No idea why it is upside down. When I posted on my I-pad, the pictures and the post were fine. Hope the problem is just with my computer. If not, please know that while life can be crazy over here, gravity is still on and we aren't living upside down.

My bike cave is in one of our spare bedrooms on the second floor of our house.

I have one of my road bikes 24/7/365 hooked up to my Tacx Neo Smart trainer.  There are two TVs in front of me.  One 42' that I use to watch TV or movies and a 32" that acts as a computer monitor for Zwift.

My nice road bike and my tri bike are stored in the closet of that spare bedroom.

This is not a cave.....it's where we spend quite a bit of our "together" time at home.  The kids are older now so I'll need to take an updated pic (even more crowded now).......you have to spend a few minutes moving crap around to get to the work you want....but it's the home court for sure, and what we raised our kids around.

We have 3 bedrooms in our house.  1 for us, 1 for the dogs and 1 for the bikes!

I started out using my garage as my pain cave, but it started to get too cold for me. I needed to wear toe covers on the side that the fan was blowing from! Now I've just taken over the living room. I have the tacx vortex smart and it folds up nicely so I can store it next to the tv and I just park my bike behind the dining room table.

My biggest desire is for a remote controlled fan. I hate starting out cold and I hate getting off after my warm to turn my fan on. . .

My bike is set up in the garage on the trainer, but I do have a 20" monitor that I can hitch my laptop to for Zwift or Netflix. Not much space and pretty humble, but it's all mine.

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
