Good grief. Wear your shoulder pads. It's going to be a real scrum. All those athletes in all those waves in a multi-lap swim. Should be fun.

I figure its going to end up on person every 2 feet. I would hate to make the turn just as a new wave comes off the start

I know what you mean. M55+ starts first up. I figure to make the turn just as the younger, faster, more aggressive swimmers start out. Should be fun!

I was just told by someone who would know this is the last year in Haines City.

Anyone have an insight? I know it was at Disney for several years and moved around 2011. He said either Disney or Clermont. I've worked for Disney my entire adult life and I'd be surprised if it went back there.

Just curious!

Interestingly I was talking with someone who also should know who indicated the opposite - that there was a long term agreement. Just hearsay of course. I did the race at Disney a few times and it was OK although the logistics were difficult. There is so much construction/development on the Disney bike course now that it could be difficult to set up a good ride. I think the Intimidator/SommerSports has Clermont venue locked up for right now, and unless there is significant detente achieved between the respective groups, I don't see it moving here. It's a shame because Clermont would be a superior venue, and the bike course could be amazing, with the run on the trail. Just my 2cents.

Also, from your race schedule, looks like I'll be stalking you to Florida 70.3, Texas and North Carolina. Train Safe.

Isn't that funny how rumors get started? I can't see Disney taking it back (I've worked there for 18 years and Disney isn't great at giving up control) and agree Clermont would be great but not sure how that would work with the other races out there.

And I LOVED your use of the term "stalking"!!! Ha! I just sent you a Facebook friend request!

From the website, looks like the swim is back to the "M" shape of past years. I think it's a wise idea. The swim will still be crowded but at least we will all be headed in the same direction.

Might even be wet suit legal looks like a cold snap hitting down there. Now all I need is 70 for a high on race day

Don't count on it. All I see in the long range foreccast is low to mid 80s for daily high temps. I expect the race will likely be wetsuit optional and have a separate wave for wetsuits like last year.

Can't give you any idea on percent grades, but there are really no scary climbs on the course. First half is near dead flat, and there are rollers the second half, usually with a headwind tossed in for good luck. I don't think the hills are as steep as the one in the Clermont area. Depends on how strong your biking is. I rarely drop out of the large ring on this course and I am not a very good biker. I use a semicompact (52-36) in front and a 12/28 cogset. More than enough gearing for me.

plenty of folks do this race with a 25. I think the only actual climbing is on the way out of transition. It's a lake so it is at the bottom of a hill. So small ring in transition set up to make that easy. Other than that there is no actual climbing just rollers and all on the second half of the course.

That will be amazing. Last year this race was so hot I remember sweating waiting for the swim to start. I've spent the last month mentally prepping for that hot run.

After last years race there was a post on Slowtwitch with the race director. I joked that he needed a bigger lake and he said that this year (16) was the last year of this contract with Haines City - and that it would depend on registration numbers if they could change locations. Aside from the stupid M swim I really like the location actually. My family loves it.

Weather is looking very favorable and could be wetsuit legal! Only a high of 77 is forecasted for Sunday an night time temps are in the low to mid 50's.

Some fast time could be put down in these good conditions.

Yep, I may have to eat my words. Water temp is right now at just about 75-76, so it will be a close call either way. The forecast for race day currently looks amazing especially given the heat of previous years' races. Everyone have fun.
