The heatmap feature is great if you want to see what routes are most popular.  In my area, that usually means bike lanes or a trail, so it's easier to plan a route.

We're flying out to McAlister, brother.  You're going down!!

Geez, haven't you guys figured out that you can just find the segments people have created that simply add on an awkward turn at the end and tack on an extra quarter mile or something?

Heck, I figured that out within the first week. Then I just don't look at the ones where I'm so lost in the crowd.
I'm the proud owner of KOM for things labeled like "_______ Hill and some junk" or "______ Attack and around the corner" or "_______ Climb plus ______ bump"

But then again, all I have to do is ride them better than the other vain person who created that segment to begin with.

Mike, you guys going to fly into Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Fort Smith, or Dallas?  They are all 2+ hours away.

Yes,  I am a little bit off the beaten path (which sucks when you need to go to the LBS and it is 70+ miles away).

Just for fun below are my two favorite bike/running routes plotted on the Strava Heat map. These routes both are full of Oklahoma's rolling hills.  The biggest ones could force beginners to get off and walk the bike to the top, but I am sure you guys could all school me a charge up them at 20+ MPH on the bike and under 7:00 min/mile pace on foot.

The blue line across the bottom of the Strava Map is about 10 miles from me.  I have done that route before but it is not as nice to ride on as the roads I have been favoring..  The Blue Line across the top is one I have never been on.  It looks like there is a new route I need to check out.  It probably is 30 miles from me from me.  :-
