Subject: When did Augusta 70.3 sell out this year?
Does anyone know/remember how early this race typically sells out? I'm considering it as my first HIM next year (a long time away, I know. I need the time trust me )

Just curious how soon I'll have to decide. I think registration opens up in December? I'm a noob when it comes to these bigger events. Only done local stuff up til now

I was sort of considering Augusta this year, but decided to do Santa Cruz instead.  I can't remember if Augusta was still open when I registered for Santa Cruz, or if it had already closed, but mid-January it was still open and early-February it was full.  I'd guess you'll need to make up your mind on it in early 2017 if you want to get in.

I can't remember when it opened, but it sold out in 7 weeks this year which was a record.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it opened in December, so I guess it sold out in February some time. I picked it because of the time frame and I can drive to it. Now I'm finding it's VERY popular, especially as a first 70.3 because of the down current swim, etc. I hate to commit that early, but I guess I can pay the $40 for the "insurance" or whatever they call it.

Yep. That's what I did this year...the $40 insurance. We did it last year and liked the course. My husband was 49 last year and it was his first 70.3...only his 3rd or 4th tri period. The run is super flat and the bike is rolling. I rode a 12x28 on the course, it was overkill.
