Sungai Liat, Sumatera Barat
ID
36C / 97F
Sunny
Total Time = 3h 58m 24s
Overall Rank = 76/148
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 8/21
Event warmup:

About 500m swim.
Swim
  • 26m 23s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt OK during the swim and the course was marked well enough that even I could navigate without difficulty but the time was crap.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 1
  • 10m 1s
Comments:

This is the slowest most pathetic T1 I have ever done for a short race.
Bike
  • 1h 39m 21s
  • 40 kms
  • 24.16 km/hr
Comments:

Before I got to the big hill I was averaging close to 30Km/h and thought I might end up with about 1:20 for the bike. Then I got to the hill and my lack of training shined through.
Transition 2
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

Another shitty transition.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on technical aspects of triathlon, like transition. It's a little bit amusing that I suck so much at the finer technical aspects because I was a breaststroker and that is as technical as you can get.
Run
  • 1h 34m 58s
  • 10 kms
  • 09m 30s  min/km
Comments:

It was a stifling hot day and my lack of training left me unable to properly cope with the heat.

My body just did not want to move faster than a brisk walk for most of the first lap and all I was trying to do was a 1:1 jog/walk.

I picked up in the second lap but still walked about 1/3.
Post race
Warm down:

A few hundred metres in the resort pool

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of fitness

Event comments:

I'm sick of writing it but I really need to train more.

I need to get back into my old routines with my old self discipline and get my fitness back.

Since our latest coach quit over problems with management at the local pool I've had a ridiculous amount of trouble motivating myself. It has never been so hard to train alone before.

After IM Cairns on June 12 I won't be entering any more triathlons until I sort my shit out and get fit again.

All that aside.

The Sungai Liat triathlon is simply the best triathlon Yanti and I have done and that is why we keep going back. On offer are sprint, Olympic and half.

It's good to have a race you enjoy doing. As for the fitness, you'll find your mojo and be back stronger than ever.  Looking forward to seeing what you can do at IM Cairns.
