Hey BT...I am starting this early even for my standards!  Heading out to Blue Lake for a sunrise swim with my daughter and her bestie--it's still kind of chilly but at least the water will be warm!

Upon returning from Blue I'll do something else--mountain bike or run + strength stuff.  Tomorrow will be off as I'll be traveling to the great state of Texas!

Have a great day!

Day off for me. Safe travels to Texas - it's been raining here a lot, and humidity higher than normal. Be ready!

8:00 am - 1:55 bike ride, tried a new route and encountered some grumpy drivers...

I'm gonna try to get to the pool at some point today to swim, we will see if that works out.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Morning swim practice at the Ymca. Had my own lane, just felt really flat. Just tried to work on technique and even that was lackluster. Stayed in it for a solid hour just to get the practice in. Form was ok, Fitness flat, Fatigue feels high. Since Friday I have crammed in 15 miles of running and 46 miles of biking, obviously pretty fried.

Rest for the remainder of today.

I'm doing a short bicycle commute to and from work today.
Got a half hour treadmill run in at lunchtime too, with a few pulls on some weight machines after.

I had a nice swim of 1900 yards. I felt good and swam fast. My form has improved which seems to help my efficiency in the water.

After the swim I went for six mile run. The tempos are warm now it was 95 during the run. The first four miles were a good pace and I did 9 one minute intervals the last two miles.

Multiple corp visitors this week so my training might be impacted. I need them to go away!

Have a good week!

In addition to my daily 2 minute plank, I hit all three sports today. I did a short brick this morning with an 8 mile bike followed by bit more than a mile run. I had a kid hit me on the bike trail this morning. I've got two pretty bruised (hopefully not broken) toes on my left foot. Bike seems fine though.

This afternoon I went for a swim. I didn't have a lot of time and the age group coach was trying to get me to change my stroke which tired me out in short order. I only got 1000 meters in before I was out of time and energy. Perhaps being in the meter pool instead of the yard pool had something to do with it too. I had about 4 hours rest between the run and the swim, so I doubt it had much effect.

After that it was off to the union hall to get my first aid and CPR/AED recertifications.

Have a great evening all!

Cool and cloudy here (in Oregon)--a far cry from the heat in Saigon! AM 50 minute run with some strides and drills, got to indulge in our old college XC team traditions of saying hi to the pioneers in the cemetery (we used to train in there--great gravel trails and huge fir trees) and run-bombing the graduation crowds!

PM--One hour trainer ride with steady high-resistance stuff. Used my road bike as Rover (tri bike) is still awaiting re-assembly after his wild night AWOL at the SF airport and subsequent delivery by van this morning.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
