Good morning Peeps!!!  I'm getting a late start today--up late last night watching two movies (Race and Eddie the Eagle) so had a hard time getting up this am!

My adventure was fabulous--the ride up to Angel Lake was wonderful!  My little legs just kept pushing (then a bit of mashing those last 4 miles!) but never had to stop--just kept pedaling!  Next week sometime I am going to climb it again but on my road bike--I'd like to compare times.  On my mountain bike it took me 2:10 to get up there.  As expected the way down was an absolute blast as well!  Can't wait to do it again!

Hiking in Lamoille Canyon was just as great--the Ruby Mountains are just gorgeous.  Hiked up to a few hidden lakes and just lounged around.  Jamie, not quite up to your level of staying over night but that is definitely something I plan to do in the future.  I just couldn't get enough of the beauty, hated to leave!

When I returned home I have to say I lost a bit of my mojo...haven't done much the last two days but am heading back out on my mountain bike today to find my lost motivation--apparently even I am prone to falling into a bit of inactivity.  But...can't keep this woman down for long!  Lol!

A few pictures from my adventure!

Wow--that is beautiful country!

About to head out on our own adventure tomorrow--road trip ending at Calgary for IM Calgary 70.3 next Sunday. We are taking several days to drive there via Vancouver, BC, the Canadian Rockies, and Kootenay National Park.

Today--1:03 of running. More than ready for taper. I really wasn't doing taper last week as I have two HIM so close together and can't afford to lose too much fitness, especially with the school year starting soon. (I have to go back to Saigon in two weeks.) Very ready for an easy week!

Quick 10 mile bike ride today before heading to Oklahoma for the week to do some work training. Oly distance race in two weeks so the timing sucks to be away from my bike for a week.

Your adventure sounded amazing!

Looks beautiful Kim!

Don't stress about losing your mojo. I have a feeling you're not going to lose it for long. Did you like Eddie the Eagle? I thought it was great, even though a good portion of it was completely made up, just like Cool Running's. Something about underdog stories in the Calgary winter olympics that get turned into movies I guess...

I've got a swim on the menu for tonight, probably 1250 meters. I'm getting ready for a shortie race on Tuesday this week.

Have a great Sunday evening peoples

I did my first ever triathlon yesterday, so today wasn't much of a training day. I did my usual 2 minute plank while the coffee brewed. That was all I planned on doing today (aside from yard work, but he got hit with a quick deluge, so that got postponed). Around 3 in the afternoon I was feeling a bit bored, and my legs were a bit tight. So I hopped on the old Schwinn and rode to Dairy Dip, a small local ice cream shop about 3 miles away. It has been a while since I rode this ol' bike. I had to air up the tires, and I should have added a few drops of oil to the 3 speed hub before I left. I wasn't shifting right for most of the trip. By the last couple of miles the oil that was in there finally worked its way through the whole mechanism and it was good to go. I kinda laughed when I stopped my phone app (Runtastic is what I use for running and biking) that despite riding very slowly, I still averaged over 10 miles an hour. It probably was about this time last year that I would have considered that moving pretty quickly.

Have a great evening,

J White

Congrats on doing your first! How did it go?!

Also, do you find the plank has been helpful in your training and (now) racing?

Well My goal was to finish in 1:40, but I crossed the line at 1:46. My run was horrible. By itself, my run is bad. It's even worse after a little swim and bike. On the plus side my swim was pretty good and my transitions weren't as bad as I had envisioned. I was feeling pretty good about finishing, and am looking forward to doing it again.

I did a race review here somewhere. Not real sure how one goes about finding it though.

I think the planks help a bit when I get into the drops on the bike. Other than that I don't know if they help with much else. A year ago I had never heard of a plank, though they used to punish us in boot camp with a similar exercise except you would hold your weight with your elbows instead of your hands.

Feeling confident and cocky, after finally losing some weight, I got off my back side and into triathlon.
