Just put clip-on aero's on my bike. Rode for about 45mins (I know, I know... that's not enough time yet) and handling was all over the place. I started to get it toward the end of my session, but still not confident.

How long until you felt comfortable and could ride a straight line?

Give it a week. No reason to rush it. It will come with time. If I recall correctly I was about 150 miles in with my first set of aero bars on my roadie before I got comfortable.

A few rides for me. After I realized that if I crash going 20 or crash while going 22mph while in aero....it's going to freaken hurt a lot either way. At least in aero position, I'll get to where I want to be sooner

When I put AB on my old road bike it was very twitchy and took a bit to get use to it, nature of the geometry.  Be careful looking back over you shoulder, best to do that up off the AB.  Oh, the RB also had a shake around 40mph or so, a bit nerve-racking.  IIRC I had to squeeze the top tube with my knees to help it settle down and limited my speed.

When I finally bought my 1st tri-bike after about a year on the RB it was amazing how much more stable it was on the AB.  Made riding so comfortable and stable. Did 50mph downhill no problem.

How long as you been riding the road bike? If you've been a roadie for awhile, it shouldn't take long at all. Besides adding bars, have you looked to improve your overall position by lowering your stem and increasing your reach? I've seen a lot of folks who put bars on their road bikes but still have way too upright a position to take full advantage of it. An aggressive position is going to do a lot more for your aero profile than the bars, and it looks a lot more pro.

I did a two 12 miles rides to then a 25 mile ride.  I made some bike adjustments after the 25 miler and have had any problem since.  So for me about 5 days or about 50 miles.  I never had trouble riding in a straight line, but did have to learn to shoulder check with out turning my whole upper body so that I didn't swerve.

You could also try riding on the trainer (if you have one) to get comfortable before practicing on the road. That's what I did and helped out a lot. Don't really remember how long it took to feel good.
Also, you might start out using straight roads to ride in aero and when coming up to curves go back to hoods until you get more comfortable.
