Subject: Purpose of the IM "Stem Sticker"
For yesterdays race I put the stem sticker on my stem with my understanding that this is a sticker that aids someone who may be racking my bike for me. At bike check in I was reprimanded by the people at the entrance who insisted that it should be in front of the bike on the head tube. Not wanting to argue I sad "no problem" and just kept on walking but is that where it really should be placed? Why don't they call it a "Head Tube Sticker?"

I stick it on the stem if I remember it at all.  If they don't like it, then they can change the name of it.

The IM races I have done always you put the sticker on your head tube, yet they call it a stem sticker.

I don't know the actual purpose, however I have had races when the other sticker have come off. So it may just be a backup.

I'm not sure its super important. I had 3 IM stickers from different races on my head tube when I checked in at Placid. The guy checking bikes was instructing another volunteer and he said to her the stickers in front aren't really important - just the frame number.
