August 15 just passed the halfway mark, so way off pace unless you realize I started Apr. 8 so should be fine

I've just now "found" the Challenges section! I think this is a great idea and would like to join in, as it will keep me going after September, which will be my last race of the year. I typically taper off pretty bad until ski season, so I think this challenge will help me keep some focus til the end of the year

Bah! I have been leading the entire year now you join. I am after you!

Good thing that once I finish this last Olympic tri this weekend I am switching to a run focused block ahead of the Chicago Marathon.

Nice! Boston Marathon is on my bucket list...but it will have to wait til 2019. (Still need to run a qualifying time )

What's the Chicago course like?

I qualified for Boston (3:10 as a 46 year old) in Fargo in 2015. I ran Boston in 2016. Chicago is supposed to be a flat, fast course. More people than Boston, which I am going to find hard to believe. Good luck on your Boston quest.

3:10! wow! Not sure I could pull that. I was aiming at a 3:20. The Oslo course is a bit bumpy, so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot going too fast on the first loop...

Just a quick note to let you know that your lead in this challenge was never at risk!!!

I was going through my data after my last 10k and something was amiss...I didn't "feel" like I'd run 1500 kms this year...and I eventually found a major error in my BT training log. On an interval run in June I did 9.05 kms but managed to put in 905 kms.

I've since fixed the spreadsheet and, like I said, your lead was never at risk

My apologies for that!

I hit 1006 miles today after my midweek run. I have a 6 miler on Saturday then a 20 miler on Sunday, then I begin the slow taper down towards the Chicago Marathon. I did a quick half marathon last Sunday (1:32) and I have been really enjoying running 5 days a week. The cooler days, the beautiful fall colours. It doesn't really seem like work.

Good luck to everyone on their journey towards their goals.

Nice work and congrats on being the first of the group to hit 1000 miles. Good luck with the Chicago Marathon.

I love this time of year - it's perfect running weather where I am.

I was sick for a week and dropped from 50 miles ahead of the pace rabbit to 30 miles ahead. Fortunately I'm feeling much better now and I can enjoy the season.

The Chicago marathon is in the books.

It has been an eventful 3 weeks.

On September 24th my brother committed suicide. I am away from home at university (Bachelor of Nursing). I had 4 exams and 1 paper due the week after he passed. I finished up my last exam on the Friday morning before his service. I attended the service then drove 900 miles to Chicago. I picked up my race kit on Saturday afternoon. I slept in my car at the Hyatt Regency parkade. I ran the marathon (3:10:45) (9 seconds over my PB for the distance) on Sunday morning then drove 900 miles home so I could be back in time for classes on the Tuesday. I ran another half marathon this past Sunday. That is it for racing this season. Now I am going to take it easy for the next couple of months and start up fresh in the new year. University is taking up much of my time these days.

I did Ironman Boulder, Wilderman (offroad 140.6), 2 70.3s, 4 Olympics, 2 marathons, 5 half marathons a 10k and a 5k race this season. I am tired and want to relax for a bit.

Bummer about the PF. I had a low mileage year in 2016 because of PF.
This year has gone better. I reached 1000 about a week ago. I'm at 1020 miles now.

I'm gonna be well short of 1000 this year, ugh... maybe i'll hit 730 but that's been the average the past 3 years, hehehe. I'm gonna try breaking that habit next year!

I ended 2017 with 1047 miles.
Thank you for participating!
For 2018 I don't plan to have a running goal for the year. Instead, I'm going to go month-by-month and focus on variety in my activities. For January I'm hoping to do 100 km running, 100 km indoor biking and 100 km of cross country skiing.
Cheers
Don

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
