Swim
Comments: The swim wasnt too bad. It was a little jammed up in the beginning. There werent too many olympic females, so we all started together. It was a little choppy so I got a few mouthfuls of water, but nothing I havent had happen before. I just tried to take it fairly easy considering it was my first olympic, and my first swim with the wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Not much, i think i did as good as i could in the water conditions. Transition 1
Comments: NOt bad, took it easy since I knew the bike and run would be long. I also had to get my wetsuit off, etc, which I hadnt really done before What would you do differently?: nada Bike
Comments: Overall I was happy with my performance on the bike, it was my first race on my tri bike and I liked it. The road conditions sucked though. I was either going 20mph on the good surface or 18 mph on gravel/pothole type roads. A lot of vibration on the bike on those parts. THen a handfull of complete 180 degree turns. I know it wasnt 3D's fault, they let us know that one of the railroads ended up not wanting to cooperate so they had to switch the course, but still, they were pretty much alot of complete stop and turn around. THere seemed to be some traffic problems to and I was in a traffic jam at one point pretty much!! BUt other then that, my actual performance im happy with What would you do differently?: My speed was fairly good, but I feel like i could have been stronger, I didnt feel strong on the bike as i would like to Transition 2
Run
Comments: The run for the olympic course was a 6.7 mile course instead of the usual 6.2 but it wasnt too bad. We went out of the park into their path around some lake/lagoon areas. It wasnt too hilly, and water and gatorade at every station. I went out a little quick off the bike, something i tend to do. Then the first two miles were a little rough. I needed to down a couple of cups of gatorade and then i felt a little better. Still working on getting that whole nutrition thing down. First oly though, so i'll know for next time :) I felt very slow, and being the last oly group out there werent too many people on the last lap of the course with me, so it was hard to judge how i was doing. I was under 10 min/miles though. I was happy with that, it felt like i was going alot slower What would you do differently?: I need to work on some tempo/speed Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, ate, and met back up with some friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was happy for my first olympic. I wasnt too sure what to expect on my performance as a whole, so next time i'll have more specific goals Event comments: I have enjoyed 3d races so far, but this one seemed a little more mixed up, and i know that hte sprint athletes had issues on the bike, and it looks to me like hte swim to. It shows all the sprint athletes going over 3+ min/100 meters, and I KNOW they were not that slow at all. SO i think the swim was messed up to for them. That stinks. Since I was one of the last group in since us women were the last group out, there wasnt alot of food left. We still got food, but there was also quite a bit gone. This was the first tri at this venue, so I guess a little leway there, but I was a little disappointed Last updated: 2006-09-10 12:00 AM
