Out of curiosity, are Ironman branded events age group winners tested for PEDs before they can claim their award?

They may be tested but rarely are

Results would not be known before ceremony where they claim their award. They take weeks/months to get results

Can only speak to the one time I have won my AG in an IM brand event.... No. All you had to do to claim the award was show up with your number. For Worlds, you sign up on a computer at the qualifying race site if you accept your slot, immediately after the roll down. I don't recall anyone else being tested either. Of course it's not something one would casually mention, but it seems like if they were pulling AG winners for testing and I was sitting around with most of them waiting for the registration computers, I would have noticed if some of us were being pulled for pee tests. Maybe the pros?

As I recall, at some point you do get information about what kinds of things are banned and informed that you might be tested at Worlds. Would have to guess that the testing, assuming it exists, is random across different events and age groups. Anyway, unless they ban chocolate, or cherry-limeade Nuun Energy, I should be okay.

They can test but drug tests at these events are not like the Olympics where there is an on site lab. 8 weeks would be more like the turn around
