Good morning!  Sounds like everyone had a pretty darn good weekend!

4:45am:  :45 min spin on the trainer

5:30am: 15 minute run to get legs moving.  A baby brick I'd call it!

Later:  last OWS--double checking new goggles--wore them last week and they were stellar.

High stakes testing all day so I'll be doing a lot of sitting, guess that works in favor with a taper week!

Have a great day!

Jamie...a HUGE congrats on the steak knives!

There is that plus with testing.....Sometimes I can actually manage to get some prep work done during work hours that way!

Four-day weekend here (Labor Day in most of Asia) so still have another day off. Thank goodness. Have gotten the apartment under control--my own decor is up, and I dealt with the ugly mess in the spare room. It involved very creative use of three old curtains, a bedsheet, and a bike box. I'm nothing if not creative, having lived in some pretty marginal apartments in my adult life. That room has risen to the level of "impoverished grad student modern"--best I can do with the owner's reject furniture and artwork plus two bikes confined in there. Plus a guest bed so my guests can enjoy it all! (Jamie--see what you are missing?! You could have slept with my bikes!)

The rest of the house looks good--just need to get some chair covers made to save the owner's furniture from my fur kids, and get a water heater installed in the kitchen. (For some reason, nobody puts them in kitchens here, so you have to arrange it yourself. How do people wash their greasy dishes??)

Training: One hour run with 5 X 5-minute tempo pickups. Started WAY too late. By the time I finished (at 7:45 AM), it was already 86 with a heat index of 95. Ugh. Hottest time of year right now--I swear you can feel the sun sucking the energy and moisture out of you! That workout kind of hurt after yesterday's brick. Usually Monday is a swim-only day--maybe that was in place of Saturday's long run (took Saturday off for the move). Legs are tired!

I still wish we were coming to Vietnam. We could have helped you set up the apartment.. Next trip to Asia I suppose! I'm going to try to get as much running in as I can while not drawing too much attention to myself. As much as I'd love to go running around Angkor Wat I'll give it the respect it deserves and just quietly mingle around the ruins.

4 mile run for me today after work. The weather's been awesome here lately.

Hello. Easy day and week for me. One hour walk when I get home this afternoon. Definitely feeling it in my shoulders and a bit in my quads, so I'm looking forward to a light week.

Have a great day!

Great bike ride on Saturday and was looking forward to another ride on Sunday but..

Was bit by black widow spider at 11:00 PM Saturday night and spent four hours in ER. Skipped workout yesterday.

Ran 6 miles this morning with no issues from the spider bite.

Have a great day everyone and watch out for those creepy crawlers.

No need to worry about running around Angkor Wat--there's a bike rally, a half-marathon, and a marathon there every year. Plenty of tourists and expats ride the ring road around the ruins, and you'll see the occasional local or ex-pat on a morning run. The main issue would be lots of traffic during peak tourist hours. But early AM, away from the main temple, could be really nice. The locals farm, run businesses, and live in villages all around the ruins--it's not really a religious pilgrimage site, but a cultural legacy that's part of their daily lives. Not Cambodian so I can't say 100% on this, but there are certainly hundreds of Cambodian athletes who do the races each year, so it must be culturally okay to run around the ruins! Anyway, the Cambodians won't be quietly mingling around--they will be doing their darnedest to sell you trinkets, having family picnics, playing music, or (if you get lucky--beautiful outfits) getting wedding shots taken. "Quiet mingling" just does not happen in this part of the world, outside of maybe an actual temple (and even then, not always--gongs, chanting, festival fireworks, and the like).

I was asleep in my bed. Woke me up when I got bit. Put spider in bag and went to ER. All good now. Thanks
