So I finally got myself some cycling shoes... (the bike I bought 2nd hand last year has dual pedals so I have been able to ride with regular shoes).

What I did not realise is that you needed a degree in engineering to work out how to clip pedals to shoes.

According to the guy in the shop, these cleats should fit on my pedals/shoes but I can't seem to be able to.

did he lie to me or am I really dumb?

I think you're good. Pedals look like SPDs, the cleats are definitely SPD, and the shoes are multi-format compatible, including SPD. Bolt the cleats to the center two holes (the ones in the sliding slots) with the the little imprinted triangle facing forward.

If you bought them from a bike shop you could take them in and have them show you how to install, clip and unclip. Also, if you have a trainer put your bike on it and just practice clipping in and out several times. You'll get the hang of it.

Good Point but I was thought I could work it out myself.

I don't have a trainer but I will practice holding myself against a wall

The shoes she has are a bit different (but your shoes ARE spd compatible, so you're good there), but the directions here might help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLSxmaQeEIM

Or just go to youtube, and type in the search bar, "how to install SPD cleats", you will get tons of hits.

Hope that helps,
