Subject: You can do it... Hey there folks,
I know a lot of people here are likely getting ready for their first Triathlon. Just a quick shot in the arm, You can do it!
Training, like most peoples, got hampered with an injury 1/2 way through. Torn Meniscus kept me off running and only light biking and swimming for about 4 weeks, it nagged for about 7 weeks. You will face adversity and wish that your training was better, you might believe that you aren't trained or prepared enough to meet the challenge ahead. I challenge you with this, start each work out with "I can do it" and prove yourself right.
I got through my first Olympic last weekend. Water was mentally challenging, specifically the first 15 minutes. Finally got calmed down enough to get some rhythm. Our bike had a very tough first 5 miles, but falling back on training, it got done. The run hurt, no two ways about it. But at the end of this small race I got the same medal as everyone else got AND got to share the experience with a bunch of great people.
Lake Raystown Triathlon didn't beat me, I didn't beat myself and I beat my goal. 2:58:40.
Enjoy as much as you can about the experience and remember...You can do it!!!
