Hmm. What do you want to know about me?

I'm 25 (well, in 5 days), from a suburb of Kansas City, MISSOURI (NOT to be confused with Kansas). I've been cycling for well over half my life (participated in and finished my first MS150 when I was 13...rode the long options both days) and have stayed on my bike since then. I've grown up at a lake and have always been interested in pursuing swimming, but have never acted on it. And running just all out sucks...but I've finially mentally convinced myself that I can improve.

I've decided to pursue a triathlon after watching my IronMan of a cousin compete this weekend in Madison. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. That's all I have to say.

Amazing and totally inspiring. I've eased up on training for the past two years (cycling) and am completely motivated to get back into it. I'm recovering from a rather complex eating disorder (it's going on 10-years-old) that is/was comprised mainly of restricting and over-exercising/training.

I'm looking to gain support here in my quest to regain fitness and maintain health.

Love the site so far!!!

I wish you continued recovery with your eating disorder. As far as the running goes, I have to say that for most of my life I thought running was an evil better avoided. I had neither speed nor endurance. I loved sports but hated running, so I played basketball (the ball distracts you from the actual running), softball, threw the javelin in track.

But since I started training for a 5k back in March something has changed. Running is no longer a chore. I have to admit that there are days I actually find enjoyment in the running itself rather than the result (times, distances, etc.). So I hope that you experience the same thing. Good luck!

Warmest welcome from your favorite cousin! (Not the Ironman one.)   Wasn't this weekend the best?!  Every race is inspiring, however, there is something extra about the Ironman!!!

You'll find this website very helpful, most encouraging, and, yes...a little bit addictive!  You'll make true friends here, and those friends will help you through your tough training times, and be there to support and congratulate you through it all!

I'm so glad you've decided to take up the sport.  After this wedding business, I'll be back to training again.  How about the St. Louis marathon next April????

Happy Training and welcome to the best Triathlete site in the world!!!

Welcome to BT, biker chic! I guess for each of us there's a favorite sport. Mine used to be swimming, but now running's starting to take over. For me, putting the time into it helps - and varying my routes, distances, etc. It's become fun! Now, the bike, that's a different story. Stick around this site! It's a great place to learn.

Welcome aboard!

Your cousin is hyping you up on the forums!  That had to be a blast to witness this weekend.  I'm motivated by some friends who signed up for the IM Lake Placid and watching a few on TV... now my wife and I are hooked.  Should be racing next spring!

I hear you on the running... I was never a fan either.  I started the couch to 5k program 6 months ago and am amazed at how my speed and endurance have grown by following a simple plan.
