Subject: RE: 7.14.17 Fabulous Friday! Hmmm...I have a tri buddy who swears by a gin and tonic the night before a race.... If I did that, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed in time for the start! Not much happens for me in the morning workout-wise without the aid of caffeine, especially at O Dark 30 before work.
Definitely caffeine-aided workout today! Didn't get much sleep owing to a rather comical incident at about 1 AM--Dad got up to pee, then decided to check the door lock. The loud click woke Mom and I up, but by the time I got up to investigate Dad was back asleep, so we were prowling around thinking someone had tried to force the lock and an intruder might be in the house or outside! (Not unfounded--there have been several break-ins nearby and transients sleeping on lawns in recent months. ). Then it took forever to get back to sleep.
It took me until 10:30 to get going on today's workout--needed some very strong coffee in the system. Then 1:20 trainer ride with a LOT of 30-second VO2 max intervals with equal recoveries--short but nasty, followed by an easy 40 minute run.
