Good morning!

I'm driving to a cross country meet in Boise, ID today--about a 5.5 hour drive so I got to sleep in a bit!

6:15am:  :60 minutes on the trainer followed by some core work

The meet we're going to huge and sponsored by Nike, excited to go to such a big event.  Can't wait to see how my faster guys do--also excited to watch the elite races as well.

Have a wonderful day!

Good luck in Boise! My parents are either moved there now or in the process off moving--they were supposed to leave Thursday and weren't sure if they were going to make it in one day or maybe stop en route. Maybe now that we are "neighbors" we can meet up sometime!

6:15 AM--40 minutes of water running. After trying to baby this injury along for a couple of months till Worlds, I am now looking at at least six weeks off and clomping around in my hiking boots, and probably another several weeks of slowly getting back to it. (Podiatrist and I decided hiking boots would work as well as a "boot" or walking cast, and are much safer in third world traffic.) My boots are so stiff that I can't push off my toes, which is the point (the issue is an inflamed joint and strained ligaments in that area). I think the initial cause was poorly-fitting bike shoes (since replaced); I then aggravated it with running and particularly CDA for some reason.

The only good part of all this is I now have permission to break the school dress code. Both my feet are really happy in such supportive shoes; they never have been in the dressy sandals that the dress code mandates for everyone but PE teachers. The TA's and kids love the now "look"--fashionista dresses and earrings with grungy old hiking boots. Very Oregonian, but NO ONE in SE Asia dresses like that. (Most local urban women, even very impoverished ones, would not leave the house without makeup, earrings, and high heels, unless perhaps they were heavily pregnant, or over 80.)

5:30 PM--One hour trainer ride. I didn't bother with the Garmin, just put on a video and rode. Plus about 15 minutes of strength (glutes and core).

Quite clearly the off-season! My next race (Challenge Wanaka half) is in mid-February; I am trying to keep up the bike to some extent and swim a lot; will see where I am with running then before deciding if that's going to be "complete" or "compete".
